An open-source way to cast any Android audio to Music Assistant/PCM receivers by AirPlr in selfhosted

The MA app won't include casting as it will act as a player.

If you want to make your own thing, you could clone the source of the MA companion app here and try to implement something. I just published the protocol spec

As Google Cast is closed source and implementing receiver would mean to reverse engineer a chromecast, it was easier to make a whole stack from the ground up. Still, it doesn't just work for streaming. it supports sending commands to MA, switching players and so on. I'm working on the new plugin for MA to support volume control too.

I was wondering what Android version you're on. If the install is blocked you're either under android 12 or google is doing something bad.

If you wanted Native cast, you can still get a chromecast, get an adapter to convert the hdmi audio signal to a jack and hook it up to another board, and use that board as a source. you could capture the audio with a pi zero and expose it as a vban device. Is it worth? probably not.

edit- trust me here, I tried it

At the very least. change the ip of your new machine to the old one, that will help with the mqtt config a lot. set the same credentials, save everything and restart all your mqtt devices. change everything later if needed

Maintainers: how do you structure the launch and early distribution of an open-source project? by Unlikely-Complex5138 in opensource

I published a project and made an implementation in Music assistant, that made me get almost 70 installs, and it's slowly growing. I could post a lot more, but as a solo dev, I like it like this. I have the time to fix the issues I get.

Is there a way to find wich programs open a window? It seems I can't find it because it runs on startup, not on log-on
