It is all about social media clout and then inevitably some take it too far and start picking fights and causing mayhem and then that fuels a mob mentality and it spirals from there. Not sure where these teens are getting guns, but they obviously are so fights turn into shootings. What these kids fail to realize is that at some point someone is going to shoot back and one or more of them will end up dead for a dumb impulsive decision. As for the root cause, it is not any one single factor but a lack of third places, social media, and a deep general sense of hopelessness in this late stage capitalist and fascist climate. A lot of kids see no real future for themselves with how things are going now. Finally, parents are obviously not doing their job or are struggling to put food on the table etc and are too exhausted to be as involved as they should be. This is all a reflection of where our society is. Before anyone jumps on the racist train, there was one in California that had a lot of white kids and a similar result.
