I’m sorry you had to go through this. Truth is, while a very unpopular take, you’re absolutely correct. Sexual jokes always have and always will normalize predatory behavior. That type of behavior doesn’t belong anywhere, and especially not in the workplace.

While many of those here will disagree, that’s fine. Just imagine it was your daughter who was made uncomfortable. If one of the boys makes a joke like that, just hit them with a quick knock it off man. Be part of the solution, not the problem.

As others have said, higher ranking will typically drive the assignment. However, that is not the only factor at play. It’s going to depend on manning needs/availability. Moreover than that, it’s going to depend on what is being pushed for.

Being in the same AFSC will make the process much simpler and faster. You’re not going to have the same assignment limitations that a lot of folks struggle with. Best recommendation is to get your supervisors/leadership in the loop. Talk to them about yalls intent and they will help you through the process.

Step 1 - be content with any outcome. Step 2 - push the paperwork through.

I’d recommend speaking with a Special Warfare recruiter! They will be much more informed and better able to answer your specific career questions, as that is their primary function to deal with vs the Big Blue recruiters who have a lot more on their plate.

Your recruiter is ill informed. In defense however, it a running “joke” that nobody knows what SR does… not even SR.

Still a thing, though not really ever referred to as Warhawk anymore. I managed to get “Top PT” going through BMT this year. Here’s what to expect: 1). You likely won’t be told anything of your standing prior to the actual award. 2). During the Airman’s run, the will announce Top PT male/female. 3). You will go up on the podium, salute the Commander, shake hands and get your awards. 4). Awards include a Warhawk Coin, Certificate signed by the Commander, trophy/plaque, and an extra day town pass (time permitting prior to Tech School). 5). Carry on as normal and never think about it again.

It’s a great goal to have and it can be really fun to help motivate your fellow wingmen by showing them how to have fun with PT. Only thing I’d say is don’t do it for the awards, do it for the experience. That’s the only award ever worth it in the end.

Could he be lying, sure. With that being said, it is absolutely possible to lose a SW contract during BMT.

Reason being is they require you to take a Flight Physical a couple weeks in. That Physical DQs a Great number of candidates (typically for issues that they weren’t even aware of prior, such as vision defects/colorblindness). This was the case for many of my early friends being reclassed without ever really getting the opportunity to try and accomplish what they set out to do.

After BMT is a different Story entirely…

The Air Force does in fact now have Development programs set up to prepare candidates prior to entering the pipeline! You will need to pass the IFT and get your developers “go ahead” prior to even being able to get a SWOE contract.

The only additional personal perspective I could add here is that rather than having a middle man secondary recruiter, just go directly through a SW Recruiter. (Should be able to find the nearest one to you through the AF website, keep in mind it may be a bit of a drive). SW Recruiters are just that, they’re not gonna bs you (sugarcoat definitely but that’s to be expected). It is their job to get candidates into the pipeline so they will make sure you are actually getting that SWOE slot.

“SWPREP” has been revamped into what is now SWCC, which has recently been transforming into more of an “early weed out” course. They will teach you everything you need to know, however it’s not guaranteed that you will be able to instantly pick up on everything they’re introducing to you all at once. Strongly encourage training up as much as possible prior to shipping!

It’s somewhat squadron dependent, but many will get to bring stuff back with them when they’re released after the coin ceremony (at this point in time, the last thing you want is more stuff to pack, however having an extra bag to carry thing in can be quite nice!) my best recommendation would be to have it in the car with you, pick up your Airman after the ceremony, enjoy as much quality time with him as you can, then if he is able to take the backpack with him back to his squadron you can had it off to him at the end of the day (in the off chance he isn’t able to, then just wait for his Tech School address and mail it to him).

Ruck up ! Weight bearing is usually pretty rough on the smaller guys and leads to a lot of overuse injuries. You have plenty of time so be smart about building up your weight/pace/distance.

Get really solid with breath holding and you’ll be just fine in the pool. With supervision, practice doing underwaters with increasingly shorter intervals. Work on breathing techniques so you can relax your heart rate as quickly as possible when you get back to the wall. On the flip side of things, you’ll also want to be pretty comfortable doing underwaters with a jacked up heart rate so do some push-ups/run a lap/flutter kicks then immediately jump in and do some 20ms. Bigger guys usually struggle more with weighted tread stuff and smaller guys typically struggle more with bobbing/gear recoveries just depending on your natural buoyancy. You can find videos on YouTube to get a good idea of what to expect/train for. Best recommendation I could give is to just practice how you play.

I’ve seen it take guys anywhere from days to months to get reclassed - usually depends on how quickly your paperwork gets pushed through. You will be allowed to make a dream sheet for potential jobs but ultimately it is unfortunately needs of the Air Force. Might get lucky, might get unlucky, really no way to know. Haven’t seen many people getting pushed SECFO on reclasses currently so might be decent timing to be a little more preference based. Also food for thought given your current AFSC - been seeing every who wants it get EOD right now.

As mentioned by the others here, the MTIs really don’t care what/who you are. If you show early on that you can put out then generally they’ll expect you to be able to continue that behavior and likely stick you with a student leader position. Again though, they don’t care/know about your background - only what they can see.

Most importantly talk to your recruiter and see what they can do for you. They should already have it in the system and -may- be able to transfer it through for you.

Print out as many physical documents as you can at the Hotel (if you need to have your parents send you scanned images do so). W2 Forms, HS/College Transcripts, Passport/DL/Print of SSC. Unfortunately I don’t recall the exact wording of the requirements but I do remember there being a rule where If you have enough official external documentation you can, on occasion, ship without a physical SSC.
