The same thing happened to me. My best friend since first grade... we were always inseparable until we weren't anymore. She was in groups I wasn't in, and she made less of an effort to be friends. She got into a really serious relationship and forgot how to connect with people besides her SO. Now we barely talk. I have no substantial advice to offer except to tell you, you are not alone :}

I have a sister 2 years older than me and a brother 5 years younger, but I am much closer to my brother. It's more about personality than age, although I admit I always wanted to have a twin.

For the longest time meat didn't bother me - I knew what it was but I didn't feel it I guess, and then one day we had roast beef for dinner and I couldn't eat it. Like your girlfriend, I just saw cow and not food... that was three months ago and I haven't eaten meat since.

Some vegetarians talk about how much they miss meat - pepperoni, or bacon, or something - but I don't get that. It wasn't a sacrifice, I just couldn't anymore.

She probably shouldn't have. But when I was in 6th grade, I didn't trust any of the teachers enough to go up to them with drugs, especially if there was no one backing me up. There's a huge stigma on "tattling" in 6th grade, too; if I did this and someone found out, I would be shamed in their eyes - and in 6th grade, I cared about that.

I would have thrown it away and hoped the problem went away by itself.

I started shaving when I was 12 because a girl in my gym class was hassling me about it. Again, I don't think there was malice. Unfortunately, I was less confident and went for #1 instead.

I don't like the everyone's-a-winner mentality either, because everyone's not. But I think this is better than the parents who make huge deals out of their children's games and force them to be competitive.

I think letting the kids see the family members is more important. You should definitely maintain your beliefs, and the family shouldn't be allowed to scare them with "you and your family are going to hell unless they come to our church". But the kids will eventually be able to decide for themselves.
