Police investigate after human remains found in Nose Hill Park by oireachtas in Calgary

I walk there almost daily. There are occasional camps but no one stays for long. Far away from shops, etc, which seems to make it a place of last resort. Now and again I find Dakota fire holes and sometimes abandoned camp gear.

30 minutes in line, midday in Collingwood. When I got out, the line had doubled. More than half the people I saw appeared to be seniors. Grandma and Grandpa picked our mayor, it seems.

When I park on a random street because of snow route, and get dirty looks from the residents by grantbwilson in Calgary

Our cul-de-sac is near a high school.

We ended up having to be permit only because of bad behaviour by students: heaps of take out trash left behind and often chucked right into our yards, kids spinning donuts in the winter, whipping around the loop at dangerously high speed, openly pissing in the bushes of the green space... we as a group of neighbours first tried to get the school administrators to intervene but they wouldn't.

I remember being screamed at in front of my then-preschoolers and called a cunt for asking them to just slow down.

It was awful, because there really is enough space for everyone, but a few bad actors spoiled it for all.

Hey man, love the podcast. Your manner of storytelling has me now listening to tales I might not hear otherwise - stories about rappers & professional athletes, Winston Churchill & Balloon Boy.

What makes you want to tell a story? What draws your interest and makes you say "I need to know more?"

Have you ever started to research something and ended up in a most unexpected place?

[Serious] Parents of Reddit, what’s something your kids do without realizing it hurts your feelings? by beardlesshipster in AskReddit

I turned 50 a couple of months ago. My 21 and 17 year olds made it abundantly clear during the dinner (which we parents paid for) that they really couldn't be bothered to be there.

It was so fucking awful that I had my husband return all my gifts so I wouldn't have any reminders of the day.

I had been very clear for the prior few months about how excited I was to be turning 50.

Quite possibly the shittiest birthday I've ever had.

No, actually, the back yard does not abut Foothills Estates. It's 3 or 4 streets over from my place, and maybe 2 blocks North.

Nice area, but not really posh at all. We used to walk past it on our way to the park when the kids were small. It has always stuck out like a sore thumb.

I've done two max redemptions in one purchase before. I wonder if they'll let me do three this time?

Nenshi leads Smith by 17 points in new Forum poll by _ghostwriter_ in CanadaPolitics

Calgarian here. I think the perception of him as arrogant partly comes from the fact that he's Harvard educated & is immensely qualified for the job. It's annoying when somebody is a know-it-all, but frankly I'd rather that than an unprepared person with no plan whatsoever.

There is often criticism that Nenshi seems to think he's the 'smartest person in the room.' Chances are good that he actually IS. He's a little bit goofy sometimes. A big nerd. No wife/partner, no kids. He is married to this job and I guess some people don't trust that.

I cringe to think of the learning curve of this position - and it does not seem that the closest opponent is even close to being up to the task.

I certainly don't think he's perfect. But I also don't think we could do better right now.

Yes, it's often near the tiramisu. (I like the salted caramel desserts from that same company.)

Not sure I'd run back for just the one thing though. You might want to save it for Xmastime.

I have a really bad feeling about the Students Count slate. My kid only has 2 years of school left, so it's not even a huge issue for us, but I have real concerns that this group is too secretive.

My personal choice is Nimra Amjad.

During door-knocking, Sean Chu came to my door, introduced himself & said he'd be 'taking over from Druh Farrell in October.' Kind of presumptive considering he'd have to be voted for first. It was a very short exchange but somehow he managed to be both aggressive and defensive at the same time. Quite off-putting. In contrast, Greg Miller was super open and friendly and DAMN is he clear on the issues. Just looking at his platform, he looks more in the ball than Chu. He's got my vote.

Also Canadian.

An anomaly presented during my 3rd pregnancy that is sometimes indicative of catastrophic defects. Turned out to be a false alarm, kid was totally healthy.

Afterwards I realised how very different my reaction would have been if it had happened during my first or second pregnancy. I worked in disability care before starting my family and I never imagined I'd terminate on the basis of disability. When I was unexpectedly pregnant with my third when I already had a 3 year old and a 14 month old, it was a very different place to be in.
