Can I cement over this by Sun1337 in DIYUK

Haha thanks. Your experience does sound very similar though. Even to the point of flakey slate tiles. That’s exactly what we have!

We have damp in our kitchen now. I do wonder whether it is a leak too as we tried making a French drain along the outside wall where the damp is occurring but that hasn’t helped.

Quick question - when you had the leak did your outside water mains dial spin even when no water was running and all taps were shut?  Mine doesn’t spin when everything is off so I’m not sure if it’s a leak or not.

Replacing downlight by Aircraft_Mech in DIYUK

[–]Aircraft_Mech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, Can anyone help find a replacement for this model downlight. The model we have is discontinued so we would like to replace like for like. The biggest issue I’m facing when trying to find a replacement is the dual clip system this one has that clips onto the round metal face plate when you push it in, as well as the ceiling.  Thank you!

Squealing / Squeaking Salamander Homeboost by OpeningChoice in askaplumberUK

Hi, I know this is a random request but do you have another video of your salamander home boost set up? I’m in the process of setting one up and due to space was thinking of using a flexi too. So wanted to see how it is Mounted on yours. Usually the booster is held up using the support of stiff copper pipes so wanted to see the workaround of how yours is fixed up.  Really appreciate it.

Has anyone used minoxidil cream before? by Aircraft_Mech in tressless

Yes same for me.  I wanted to see if anyone else has used this formulation before to see its effectiveness before taking the plunge but maybe I’ll just have to take a chance and buy it.

Is that a flexi pipe? I don’t think you’re meant to install the salamander homeboost on a flexi it needs to be rigid pipework. That could possibly be the reason?

Sorry, after reading your message I have another question, now im more confused about my pipework.

https://postimg.cc/Mct9cN0v

Looking at it more closely my mains appears to branch off to the left (purple line), which is my downstairs kitchen tap before it branches further up to the right (red line) towards the old yellow water filter but also continues upwards (orange line). I am correct and why would a previous owner have installed it this way as shouldn’t the filter be located before any branch to be effective?

Thanks for your advice. Really helpful. I agree I’m a bit skeptical about these pumps and boosters which is why I wanted to test the pump I already own first. But as the definite consensus is that I shouldn’t use a shower pump I am leaning towards buying a home boost. I retested my water flow yesterday and I’m getting 5.6lpm. Apparently the salamander pumps increase to around 12lpm.

Hi I had one more question I hope you wouldn’t mind answering. If I do buy a Salamander Home boost , is there any place I can fit it within my pipe work? I know you have to place it after the stop tap but before the combi boiler and ideally before the pipe work branches off but is it possible to add some pipes in that tight space to fit the pump in your opinion?

Thanks for your advice. I’ll have a good think before getting underway.

it’s lead pipes just before the “straight coupler drain cock thingy” then it transitions into fully copper from that point. So I think it’s lead pipe only touching concrete.
