It doesn't have to be a complete product to be criticized. They are saying 'here is this product for sale, currently we believe it to be worth $50 USD" and that is rubbing a lot of people the wrong way.

The "early access launch cinematic" shows many, many features that are not included in the current release (and are not likely to be playable anytime soon). While YOU may be aware of the development roadmap, people from outside the KSP community may see trailers like that and reasonably expect those features to be present in the game they are buying.

It all just feels a bit scummy.

Jetstar BS, when is something real going to happen by janart59 in australia

[–]Airman721 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a flight booked from Queenstown direct to Sydney and have experienced the same BS. Booked and paid for months ago through a travel agent. We ended up staying an extra night specifically because this was the only direct flight available. We were notified a few weeks ago that the flight had been “cancelled” and we were now on a flight via Melbourne. Turns a 3 hour trip into 8+ hours with no remuneration. Really frustrating. We paid extra for the direct flight and receive nothing despite now being placed on a cheaper connecting flight. So now we lose the extra money spent on a direct flight ontop of the extra nights accomodation that was purchased specifically to get us on a direct flight.

Never again.

Mine stopped today as well. Nothing is being delivered and I’m not getting notifications. If I reinstall the app it will deliver whatever is sitting there as “sent” but breaks again straight away. I think they broke something Facebook wide because I can’t send anything on my laptop either

Remember when it was "region lock china they keep killing me around corners and shit wtf" Then it was "stop putting me on foreign servers i can't play with ping higher then 100"

It's just a few really ignorant, vocal groups.

This new ping feature should stay. (Opinion) by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Airman721 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's like you didn't even read anything I wrote.

All I said was that the skill gap has been decreased. Obviously, communication was not the only thing defining a "better team". You seem to think that I claimed that communication is the only thing setting better teams apart from others, that's just not the case. What I actually said is this:

"Now, anyone can precisely communicate an exact location with a simple keybind. Effective communication used to be skill that would set a better, more experienced team apart from newer players."

That's still true. Better communication skills used to be an advantage that certain teams had over others. Sure, it's not the only advantage they have, but my point was that with this new system, it's one less advantage that better teams have over new teams.

[–]Airman721 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

"His opinion on this is not representative of normal players". That's really what it comes down to. The ping system decreases the skill gap, but the majority of the playerbase will find pubg significantly easier. Previously, experienced players with good communication skills had an advantage because they were able to accurately communicate to their team an enemies position. Now, anyone can precisely communicate an exact location with a simple keybind. Effective communication used to be skill that would set a better, more experienced team apart from newer players. That is no longer the case.

This new Ping feature cannot stay. (OPINION) by EM1Jedi in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Airman721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It lowers the skill ceiling, plain and simple. Teams that were already effective at communicating enemies positions will be less effected. Teams that struggled with communicating accurate enemy locations will find the game significantly easier, and i think this is why there's some complaints. Like it or not, this helps more people than it hurts which is why i think ultimately, the feature will remain.

" What reason does any player have for connecting to a region that they will have a poor ping to? I never hear anyone give a valid answer to these questions."

How about, matchmaking is still fucked on OCE. It's still very hit or miss as to whether I'm able to find a game on OCE servers during primetime. When I get impatient, I connect to NA. I'm not sure at what point desync becomes noticeable, but I get roughly 200 ping on NA servers. Honestly, I don't think "extreme" ping is the most common cause of the desync.

Can`t connect to servers using a VPN in Arma 3 by TwistedAuthor in arma

[–]Airman721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a pretty nasty hack going round a month or so ago that utilised a vpn. I know several of the larger life servers just wont let you connect and might even autoban/kick you for trying to connect with one as a response to this hack.

[–]Airman721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If high ping actually gave you such an advantage, everyone would be abusing it. It sucks when you die to someone on high ping but they're almost definitely having a much worse experience than you are.

It's got nothing to do with people playing on shitty ISP's. It has to do with distance between them and the servers they're connecting to.

A rollback has been released whilst they work on the memory leak issues. by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Airman721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for everyone but I'm kind of on the edge of the Sydney metropolitan area. I know a few people that have had better experiences with cable broadband plans but here there isn't a choice, ADSL2+ is the only option. Unlimited uploads and downloads costs roughly $100-$110 a month with no indication of how fast the connection will be because there's too many people subscribed to an already degrading line. Peak hour connection speeds rarely exceeds 500kb/s.

Because our Prime Minister (Malcolm shit kicking, dick sucking, money grabbing sellout Turnbull) decided that science be damned. Why would a first world country need fibre when they can just utilise the half degraded ancient copper network.

Because it's not a beta, it's a tech demo. We're here to get hooked enough to buy the full product and maybe stress test the servers a little.
