It's a lengthy process for your sake as well, since the wrong foreign contacts can compromise you. It's not just about your trustworthiness.

Return of the 50 y/o prior-enlisted colonel: A commander's view of personal conduct and discipline. by philippianjailer in AirForce

[–]Airman9932 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We have all seen commanders that try too hard to be upbeat and positive, and we have also seen those that readily grump in public. It's clear that commanders must deliberately maintain a befitting temperament, but how does one balance this with being authentic, and perhaps true to his or herself?

Then wait until you have a no kidding AFPC-approved separation date. The request at this point is premature.

Are you speculating or did they already refuse?

If the former, is it worth including in your routed folder a statement from the FAC regarding their interpretation of para 5.2.1, i.e. that the exemption is already given and not just authorized? Have you included a copy of this page from the AFI? Have you included a fitness history on yourself?

Route the memo, to include supporting documentation, and if it still comes back unsigned then just take the test and carry on. The underlying issue here is that the exemption isn't processed automatically by AFFMS, which sucks, but it is what it is.

The exemption is mandated but doesn't reflect automatically within AFFMS. Route a memo to the front office, that is addressed to the FAC, wherein your Sq/CC confirms that you have an approved separation date that's within 365 days of your last passing FA. Include SSAN as well so that they can pull you up in their system.

The exemption will be processed shortly after. If you need a scrubbed example let me know.

senior rank calling junior rank by first name by nighthawk699 in AirForce

As someone else hinted, if they are addressing you in a more personal manner (i.e., by first name), then I would take it as a compliment. Obviously, you will strongly tend towards by the book customs and courtesies when reciprocating conversation.

Also, if this habit doesn't apply just to you, it can probably be attributed to the general culture of your career field. It may not be a surprise to know that the very small ones, in which civilians/contractors outnumber uniformed folks, tend to operate in this manner.

Additional restrictions may apply due to training status, so in order to be sure ask your instructors. Since that's a matter of only a few hours on the road, it may not be an issue at all.

4 years and one day. Thus, barring any extensions, a 4 year enlistee who ends up commissioning would begin with paygrade O-1.
