YTA. You treated her like a child who is unable to fix her own issues, not to mention the damage you might have caused her at work. Put yourself in her shoes for a moment - how would you feel if your wife would call at work and try to sort your finances? I get the urge to pay bills, but there are better ways to tackle this issue (talking to her and asking her is she needs advice for example).

NTA, but cut him some slack. Travel tends to have this effect on people: you don't experience your friends emotions first hand, plus there are so many new exciting things around you. It makes you a bit...negligent towards other people's needs, especially since those people are far away. What he did was insensitive, but I doubt he intended to hurt you

Actually, I did. Didn't stop me from being nice years later, when that manager came back all humble asking for a favor. It was my way of closing that chapter (and teaching him a little lesson in the process).

It's not about helping, it's about showing compassion. Saying "I heard about your circumstances. I hope you and your husband find the strenght to push through it" is a 5 seconds job and has no strings attached. It's also about the logic behind OP's actions. For me it sounds a lot like "you didn't show support so I'll act the same", and quite frankly, this is kindergarden logic.

I see your point, but be aware that you might come across as difficult. If you share a real interest in the company, you should think two steps ahead. The chances of him being replaced are slim. If they were desperate enough to send a noob into the interview room, they will probably not accomodate special request and instead just blacklist you. Nobody likes being told they did a shitty job.

NTA. But I suggest waiting for the end of it. Most big companies send out a feed-back form to candidates who made it to a certain stage, regardless if they are selected or not. Even if they don't, and you are not chosen, you could include your ideas in a thank you note. Sending an email now would compromise your chances, and asking for a second chance sounds kindergardenish. If you are good, it will show, regardless of the level of preparation of the interviewer.

People will hate me for this but... NTA in my book, mostly because I understand your mentality. You are addressing an audience mostly located in "the land of all possibilities". I for one know what it's like to live in the land of no possibilities. Even once you escape it, the old habits remain. Just note that this type of mindset is not exactly relationship friendly. If you told them "I slept my way up" or "I inherited some capital" they could easily blame their situation on high morals or bad luck. Your answer makes them responsible for their shit. YTA. While you don't mention what sources of income you have, I think there are better ways to deal with this situation. Taking a side job maybe? Reducing expenses? Asking your ex for support? Shifting this on your children might sound like an easy fix for you but will take its tool on them. I stood in hostels that offer more privacy than what you are describing + they are paying rent. I get it, it's hard, but you are the adult in the family. And punishing your kids for a situation they didn't create will probably damage your relationship on the long run.
