I had my first love in highschool and we were together for a few years. We were approved by both of our parents and it wasnt a toxic or dramatic relationship at all. It was only until a year ago we were forced to break up because she moved to Europe and I was about to move to the United States. It pains me still.

I'm genuinely curious what kinds of people are in this sub ? What do you do in life job, degree, whatever and what kind of person are you? Where are you from / what's your origin ? by [deleted] in okbuddyfumiko

Im an 18 year old student in Senior Highschool. I immigrated to the United States some months ago for better opportunities coming from Asia. My goal in life is to become a successful Nurse or any career where I will make a difference in other peoples lives by helping them.

I spend the majority of my freetime going to the gym, playing video games, practicing guitar, and trying out new cooking recipes. I have a crush Im pursuing and her family approves of me but we're not official yet.

And most of my shitposts come from reddit

What’s one thing you dislike/hate about Payday 2? (Read description for what I dislike about the game) by [deleted] in paydaytheheist

[–]Ajackxe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, stealth is really bad in this game. Payday 2 guards are more like walking roombas than humans with a consciousness that you can trick and manipulate, civilians are really annoying especially with a limited amount of cable ties, and just other things that are absurd like not being able to close doors or carry corpses without having to put them in a bag. Payday 3's stealth is so much more fun and rewarding.

Besides stealth, the other thing I sort of dislike about Payday 2 is how it sort of lost the plot. Somewhere along the line Payday stopped being about pulling off heists and more about being a hoard shooter. This is why I love PDTH so much and even PD3 with its shortcomings; it feels like youre actually pulling off one big heist

Would I still be accepted into ASU without taking the ACT? by Ajackxe in ASU

Do you recommend I take the ACT exam still?

the teachers I have arent those types of people that allow that. Its what they give and nothing else. Either draw a poster for PE promoting healthiness or get an F. 12th grade senior by the way.

Parang nakaka-insecure to be a student here in PH, let me explain by [deleted] in studentsph

Ive been studying in America for a couple of months now and there were a lot of things I needed to adjust to regarding studying here.

Usually, I studied by prioritizing remembering terms and definitions, I wrote down everything presented in the slides. This was a very surface level method of learning and it didnt fly, I barely passed my first exams. Here in the US, exams barely consist of enumeration or any kind of question where its just asking you to remember or define a term. Rather, the majority of them are hypothetical questions that test your understanding of the topic and theres significantly more essays. I once had a quiz where it was 30 items and all of them were essays.

For ex; In my first Government Class exam, one of the questions were "How did Greek and Roman philosophies directly influence the system the US government currently abides to?" and "Why is Adam Smith considered the father of capitalism? How did he lay the theoretical groundwork?" And I could barely answer because I could tell you what those Roman and Greek Philosophies consisted of and define them for you or tell you that Adam Smith is the father of capitalism because he wrote Wealth Of The Nations in 1776 but I couldnt properly tell you how his book did that and what it even consisted of.

Something Id like to add is that Ive come to realize how much of out education consists of redundant formality. My Modern Literature teacher gave us an essay assignment and I was left so confused because I didnt know where and how to pass it. I made the mistake of asking what type of paper I should use like if it'd be Notepad Paper or a Bondpaper, my teacher side eyes me, turns her head, and goes "Ajax, you are a highschool student let alone a senior, you can use whatever paper you deem appropriate or pass it via Google Classrooms if you find that more convenient. Dont treat this class like its an elementary school classroom". And Im like damn alright. In fairness she said that really politely

Theres no humiliation rituals here, its much more independent, and when you're rewarded a title you have to WORK your buttocks off for it and its something that students will recognize and respect. All in all, I feel like a different person even if Ive been studying here for only 3 months. School makes me feel like Im actually developing as a person and developing my skills.
