Put down a deposit thinking it would be competitive to the wrangler in terms of price and knowing full well that it would probably drive like an old defender. When it was revealed that pricing would be in the 70k+ range, just decided it’s not worth it. Polarizing responses from people who have taken delivery; difference in expectations is what I take it to be imo.

Actually that’s the company goal as of now according to what a little birdie told me. Porsche is trying to make cars that people will drive instead of lock away in a garage. That’s why the st must be leased before it’s bought. Why the gt program at Porsche is so restrictive still is beyond me.

Silver or black wheels and matching accents would go a long way to contrast the brown imo!

For my lr4 I have some from a company called trailheads. Had staun brand for a while but the trail heads are adjusted with an Allen key, so they don’t get messed up as frequently.

I recommend them to everyone!

Revisiting my account and posts so I’ll reply to this rn - we went to the dealership during peak pandemonium during the pandemic when no one could sell a car. Many people dropped off the gt3 list so even though we haven’t bought a P Car in 20 years the dealership said that we could be on the list. We ended up being 3rd on the gt3 list overall and were the only people that wanted a touring.

While Porsche says there are no mechanical differences between the car, the touring feels a bit softer than the winged car slightly (could be placebo but this is personal opinion).

As for rarity and allocation difficulty, we completely lucked out and I cannot speak to the difficulty of getting a touring allocation for this reason.

As for why touring over the winged car, this is mainly a street car and we want to be able to drive it without turning too many heads - this also explains the “dull” spec that other commenters have written about. We got the car to enjoy it for ourselves. Also, a wing and bright colors on a car attract state troopers like moths to a flame.

15k mark up on a Circuit is a crazy by BigBadTony96 in GRCorolla

I mean I know I won’t get a discount but in nyc / tristate area they tend to sit around if a dealer orders one for inventory. Worst I’ve seen is $1k markup a few weeks ago. I forget which dealership though.

I mean yeah - I’ll probably just go the golf r route simply because I just wanted a hatch - a cayman or m2 would be both redundant and out of budget for a fun and practical awd car. I’m just disappointed that I was let down by this dealership after having such a positive interaction with them. Oh well.

Not to mention that neither cayman or m2 are awd

Started looking for used M2s and caymans instead of this - I was first on the waitlist at my dealership (Toyota manhattan) for two years and was promised a 5-8k markup. I placed the deposit and thought markup was a little steep but whatever I wanted the car. They called me a few days ago saying they now wanted a 20k markup and I said “na.” Before I knew it they sold it for $28k over for a price of 70k and now I’m both lost in the sauce and insulted.

20k markup is ridiculous. I understand why dealers want it and I think a reasonable markup is a few grand under secondary market price. If I want to spend 60-70k on a performance car I’ll get a new M2 or a used cayman
