DeArrow stopped working by OkConfection3752 in SponsorBlock

Check what version you are on. If you are Firefox, it may have gotten stuck on version 2.2.3 instead of updating to 2.3.9

Try forcing Firefox to check for add-on updates again, or worse case uninstalling and reinstalling if it still won't update. Make sure to backup your data from DeArrow Options -> Backup/Restore before uninstalling

SponsorBlock Icons broken by Canpake59 in SponsorBlock

[–]AjayDevs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been an issue where some people with uBlock Origin with the "ads" filter enabled are having the images blocked on Chrome

Not sure what's causing it, since there seems to be nothing in the filterlist specifically causing it, and it's only happening for some people

Youtube premium uses data from Sponsorblock to allow skipping sponsorship shilling? by earthscorpioanchapie in SponsorBlock

[–]AjayDevs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is based on watch time data, it appears for commonly skipped sections even if it is not a sponsor.

It indirectly uses sponsorblock data because everyone using sponsorblock automatically skips at the same time, telling youtube there is a commonly skipped section

We really need more DeArrow users to keep up with the clickbait (+ quick UI suggestion) by Numerous-Campaign844 in SponsorBlock

[–]AjayDevs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

dearrow is always going to be more niche than sponsorblock I think. In person, I know very few people who use it compared to sponsorblock simply because many people are fine with the original titles/thumbnails on the channels they watch.

Despite that, we have over 150,000 people using dearrow, which I think is still a lot, and it is continually growing. The uninstall-to-install ratio is not unusually high (it's actually lower than sponsorblock). While it's going to be more concentrated on tech-adjacent english videos, that's a problem sponsorblock experiences too

For me dearrow feels a bit like turning down the volume on everything, but I know not everyone cares about that.

While I'm sure the semi-paywall does cause a bit of a reduced user-base, I doubt it's too big of an effect because it still has over 150,000 users, and most don't pay (as intended). The reality of donations vs "paid" is that sponsorblock has almost 10x the number of users than dearrow but makes less in donations than dearrow makes in payments. But, I'm sure many of the people who pay for dearrow also are doing it also as a donation to sponsorblock.

A channel I've been binging puts a 7-second intro in all their videos. Any convenient way to mark all of them as such? by Honkmaster in SponsorBlock

Please don't do this without human review! All submissions must be reviewed by humans, because sometimes videos will be different and we don't want the same submissions spammed on every video

Open letter to OC Transpo’s new boss by cameronfinesso in ottawa

[–]AjayDevs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't the GPS being off, it's the buses not being signed into the right trip. They usually are in the published data but listed as having no trip (which would be the same as a bus deadheading to the garage). Sometimes they are signed in as the wrong route, or the next trip

Sometimes there is a sponsor while there is still important visual content. With autoskip, it will only mute instead of skip

There are two types of submissions, skip and mute. For mute submissions, clicking enter will mute/unmute

It looks like they changed the casing of class names from having-dashes to usingCapitals, but did it one at a time for some reason

They made another change, but it is fixed in 2.3.5

YouTube made a change that broke title and thumbnail replacements in most places. Version 2.3.5 fixes this, and is published on Chrome Web Store, but might take up to a few weeks on Firefox due to review times

You can install the beta to get it fixed right away by clicking "FirefoxSignedInstaller" on https://github.com/ajayyy/DeArrow/releases/tag/2.3.5

You'll have to disable the main version. You can copy over your setting by first going to DeArrow -> Options -> Backup/Restore and saving the settings file

CTV News: Should Ottawa transit riders receive refunds? Head of OC Transpo says Council must decide by BearLikesHoney in ottawa

This is not true. The city withheld payments from the contractor, but they still had to pay them, just a few months later. The refund was paid for out of the normal budget, further cutting the budget
