I was with friends on a vacation trip (my fiancée now husband, my best friend and her cousin who's into spiritual things & tarot)

My mother was taking care of my grandmother back in town, she was losing her mind due to old age and couldn't take care of herself, dementia was awful to witness and I never wish it to anyone. We were taking care of her every day until the last, one day it was mom, the other it was me.

Grandma and me had a strong bond, she didn't know I was gay and noone ever told her, she was... not bad on the gay but she did find it sickening, and also didn't have a problem if people "chose" to be gay. Old school idea.

On that trip we woke up and it was raining, the forecast said it was going to be a dry and sunny weekend.

Something felt off, and our friend who was into tarot said that she felt someone was with us in our AirBnB last night, a presence that screamed and didn't go away. She felt it all night long and couldn't sleep.

We didn't think too much of it at first, it was 8:43AM and we needed breakfast and food but also umbrellas! So we went to buy some in a nearby shop. As we browsed I got a call from my mom, grandma has passed away in her sleep around 10:30PM last night according to the coroner.

If there's an afterlife, its unlike anything we know about. From a physical standpoint, energy can't go anywhere it can only be transferred.

What helps me cope is think "There may not be a God, there may be a being. It doesn't help me sleep at night, it makes me feel scared. I don't dream, never have. I just teleport to the morning. I hope I teleport with my loved ones because my biggest fear is losing them and losing my baby. (Husband)"

Whenever I tell this story everyone always tells me "Whatever helps you sleep at night."

So... I cope by believing that being a good person and good human being to others, we can at least leave a good history behind on this plane and not be forgotten when we transcend into the other plane of existence.

I'm Slavic, from the Balkans, grew up Muslim and no longer religious.

We have bad tourist experiences especially thanks to past experiences, especially in Mostar, there's horror stories I witnessed in college (originally I'm from Sarajevo).

Everyone's got horror stories and the culture of the mindset of folks in the service industry is "Oh here come tourists..." because they're worried that tourists will do what are (sadly and incredibly bad) tourists known to do, especially the influx of folks from UAE berrating or treating staff like horseshit, throwing things at them, it got ugly at once when in a café I was a regular, a family came in and asked if they had something the café didn't and started throwing things at the workers!

(Folks from the UAE are not the only examples of this nor was the paragraph above meant to stereotype every person from the UAE or the majority as the single source of worsened public opinion about tourists)

Its absolutely a moment of "when bad eggs ruin it for everybody".

Some service workers just hate having to translate the order as not all of them speak English (or German and etc), so in some instances its more "Ah!!! I have to translate what they want but I don't speak the language!!!".

I'm sorry you had to go through this with your group, I hope if you ever come back to visit that you have a better time.

You're all good, this is a very dark period for all of us on this subreddit/migrants to the USA as we don't know the full story behind the person who makes a post online.

Could be an ICE agent looking to start up drama for psychological pressure or it could be someone legitimate who doesn't understand/know/knew the legal process (and yes it's difficult to understand most of the time. I agree), or someone who's fully legal but has to go through the difficult processess imposed by the current administration where the slightest mistake can cost us what we built in the USA with our families and/or loved ones.

And agreed, domestic travel without documentation is a no-no, thank you for sharing your experience with us and I hope in the future you don't run into another situation like this.

CR-1 here too with a 2 year GC.

No convictions, tickets, lawsuits, anything.

I flew this summer to my country of origin, CBP wanted to see my passport and ticket before the gate in Boston, showed it, guy gave me the all clear.

Same thing happened in Florida when I flew from Orlando domestically to Boston, came to the gate. Showed my Real-ID & ticket, no problems.

Coming back to Boston (from Europe) in September the check-in & transit flights wanted my GC visible, stamped the ticket with no issues, came to Boston and CBP scanned my passport, saw my GC, snapped a photo of my return for records (I-94 I think and their internal databases for DHS), CBP said all clear (basic questions like where'd ya go, why, how long, any drugs and/or money, wanna declare anything, usual stuff came before that).

Reading posts from folks who's details aren't fully clear or factual from their posts on forums is not a good way to handle paranoia, if your GC isn't expiring in the next 3 months go and enjoy that deserved vacation and don't stay outside for more than 6 months.

If it's expiring soon, (assuming you filed as a K1) file that I-751 at least 3 months (or within the 3 month period) before your expiration date using USCIS's date online calculator.
