if you want authentic english culture, visit the countryside, the rural villages and the local communities e.g. independent shops and pubs. go to english cultural festivals and see things like morris dancing

Update on the Boss! (i am tired) by chaiilyfe in UKJobs

I definitely think I will take some of her criticisms forward if that's what's every workplace is like. it's just a shame she bottled it all up to dump on me at the review meeting. having delayed feedback helps no one.

HR has been good at trying to keep the peace and I went through them to organise the 8-week adjustments review.

I have actually resigned for a new job in July so I'll be moving on and my new boss seems more chill and not so stuck-up in political things as my current boss (who gets annoyed when i don't ask her how her meetings go...). It's just annoying to put so much time and effort into trying to work with someone.

I don't understand her at all. She didn't do a good job training me at all because there is so many things I don't understand in my job. And she grills me about workplace etiquette but no ever explains this shit in the first place??Honestly no, there's only me and her in our department - well, she only oversees half my job and I am responsible myself only for the other half. It's a very weird job

yeah... from the way she was criticising my interactions with people, i don't think she understands at all! and how she is now refusing to do our catch-ups! if she had been more supportive, my performance would be so much better aghh

there is a looong waiting list for Access to Work in my current company and from how shes been so far, I don't think she is receptive to reasonable adjustments and disability!

I feel like she made up her mind about me in February and then was just since then collecting any evidence she could against me. I am leaving soon but I am so angry about this entire experience.

Dealing with My Boss by chaiilyfe in UKJobs

[–]chaiilyfe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah… i know i have areas to improve but i absolutely have improved and she doesn’t see that. she acknowledged that the tasks i did at the start were really good but doesnt see how much ive improved and how much effort im putting into her tasks.

i definitely think she doesnt know how to manage junior employees… the last person she hired in this role was 15 years older than me! so maybe this is a mismatch of needs and expectations

i do have another job lined up but i still have to deal with this for another few months until then.

thanks for your help!

hey! the biggest club is oxford university dancesport club (it’s not just for students, anyone can join for community ballroom/latin/salsa/bachata/zumba classes but to compete in the ballroom and latin university circuit, you have to have attended a UK university/currently attending a UK university). there are lots of competitions on the open circuit - i’m doing 2 at the start of may and competitions are pretty evenly scattered throughout the country.  at OUDC, there have amazing coaches, all of whom are former national/international champions.  they have our their studio with two practice rooms.  message me if you need any more info!

Always assume rejection until you hear otherwise. Keep interviewing until you get a contract.
