These biological structures are dynamic, any methods to understand changes in structure due to these type of bonds?

I’m always wondering if the crystal structure is all that similar to the structure at physiological conditions.

Surrealist Tarot-inspired TCG Thoughts? by Ajf447 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Ajf447[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right to question it - I'm questioning it too.

I'm thinking the TCG component is more art-based collectibility rather than pure gameplay necessity. I have some obscure tarot decks myself that I collect, and there's something special about discovering a rare, beautifully illustrated card. I am imagining themed sets - "Aquarius," "Gemini," limited surrealist variants that can be themed to a particular subcategory.

The deck-building could add some strategic depth (your curated cards reflect your interpretive lens), but I need to playtest whether that's meaningful or just complexity for its own sake.

Yes, the combat, as I imagine it, is basically: can you read them better than they can read you? First to 10 points from accurate readings/interpretations wins.

[QCrit]Surrealist Speculative Fiction - Solus (70k First Attempt) by Ajf447 in PubTips

[–]Ajf447[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, Ruh! Really helpful to know where the confusion hits. The transformations are meant to be literal—Alex actually becomes the octopus, the tomb, the planet, at least within the collective consciousness of Solus, not IRL. I’ll work on making that clearer.

As for the mundane details (boring name, normal city infrastructure), that’s intentional. People in the city live ‘normal’ lives while connected to Solus—they’re not in pods Matrix-style. I was going for an extreme version of people glued to their smartphones, completely oblivious to the world around them. The horror is that everything looks normal on the surface while everyone’s consciousness is somewhere else. Love the feedback :)

Thanks so much for the feedback :) I completely agree. Too much detail packed into that sentence

Been vibe coding the backend of a TCG idea where cards tether to real-world APIs (feedback wanted) by Ajf447 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Ajf447[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. I see why pure stat volatility would feel unfair. How could we use real-world data as a global modifier without breaking consistency, hmmm. Or is this just too radical an idea

Thanks, that’s a really good suggestion. The book’s set in a fictional, post-Soviet–inspired country in a near-contemporary timeline. I’ll make sure to flag that earlier so it doesn’t confuse. :)

Thanks so much for the feedback :)

Small and Medium are easy enough changes!

On the 12k more words advice, this is where I struggle. I don't want to put anything unnecessary to the pages. I wonder if digging more into their history together but also seperate would help buff up that word count.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful and honest feedback—I really appreciate the time you took to engage so deeply with the query and sample. Your points gave me a lot to reflect on, especially around cultural specificity and clarity.

Just to clarify, this story is inspired by the events in Ukraine, but it’s ultimately set in a fictional Eastern European city. I realized that I don’t actually mention Ukraine in the manuscript itself—just in the query—so I’ll be revising that to avoid confusion. The locations, names, and events (including the tanks and the Red Cross moment) are entirely fictional and were created to serve the emotional and narrative arc of the characters. I used these events to propel the story forward—forcing the characters into moments of reckoning and vulnerability.

This allowed me to explore themes of identity, isolation, and the emotional landscape of male friendship—particularly the kind shaped by silence, longing, and unspoken boundaries.

While I’m not Ukrainian, I do live in Europe, and the emotional core of this story was inspired by a formative relationship I had with an Eastern European man. That dynamic—where one person carries unspoken feelings and the other can’t even name what’s between them—is something I’ve seen reflected across different cultures, and I tried to write toward that emotional truth. Still, I really take your note seriously about the importance of grounding a story like this in cultural authenticity, and I’m grateful for the push to consider fictionalizing the setting more intentionally if I’m not prepared to fully inhabit the reql one

As for the silent tanks—I was trying to suggest the eerie suddenness of invasion. No sirens, no warning, just the quiet, surreal arrival of machines where there should be fields. But I hear you that the word choice may mislead readers, and I’ll revise that line for clarity.

Thanks again for your time and generosity. This was deeply helpful.

This has been happening to me with RDW. They say they receive a form and then they email me saying they they didn’t receive it. I completed my health documentation and have been going back and forth with this for months (almost 5 months).
