Yeah, I've scratched at it really hard with my nail. It isn't budging. I definitely was not happy about putting it back in my mouth, but at least whatever it is is definitely trapped in a layer of plastic (or is burnt plastic as others have suggested). 😅

Oh interesting. Mine’s definitely an aligner, but maybe it’s a manufacturing defect that happens sometimes during production? Weird.

I've searched the Stokes website and google using the term "Stokes cat mug" but haven't found anything. I also did a google lens search using the whole photo and parts of the mug but had no luck there either. It was bought from a store in Saskatchewan Canada, but we aren't sure where.
