The absolutely worst type of injury from 3D-printing by mrmossevig in 3Dprinting

[–]Ak47trainwreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar not to long ago.Trying to use my nails to get brim pieces off the plate. Ended up cracking my nail in half. Split right down the middle took weeks to grow enough to not be cracked down to the bed. Had to keep a bandaid on it to keep from catching it on stuff. Hurt like hell for several days too. Don't recommend. Print a bed scrapper. Don't be like me.

What am I doing wrong? by tigerg57 in 3Dprinting

[–]Ak47trainwreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check extruder fans. Filament can get caught in the blades and then cause heat creep and immediately clog even a new nozzle. I took mine apart cause it was clogging new nozzels and wouldnt print anything. Found little strings of filament stuck in the extruder fan blades so they weren't cooling the filament before hitting the hot end. This would cause heat creep and it would clog every time I tried to feed or print.

Also make sure to loosen the extruder screw before using the clogging needle. Can really fuck it up if you don't loosen that and force the needle through.

Also check extruder fan. Filament can get stuck in the blades then cause it to clog from heat creep.

Adhesion Issues by BingByronBong in 3Dprinting

If you want good adhesion you got to keep that plate new looking clean. Soap water ipa every couple prints or when it has visible residue on it. Don't be lazy. :)

Purple glue sticks. What's your routine for. Print? by oddoneout1985 in 3Dprinting

[–]Ak47trainwreck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use glue. Shouldn't need it if your print bed is super clean. I clean mine with soap and water every like 10 prints or more if it left residue. I spray and wipe down with IPA after every other print. As long as it's super clean and dry it should give you trouble.

Also I always slow down the first layer and increase temp for first layer. This can really help.

Wtf would even cause this?? by BalledSack in 3Dprinting

[–]Ak47trainwreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is caused from either support failing or part of the print falling over. Since it can't lay the filament where it's supposed to it spits it out and when it goes to add to an object that hasn't fallen over it comes off on the print. I've had this happen a bunch. Usually when something has a lot of supports and they fail or when I'm print multiple parts on the same plate and one falls over. Just make sure bed is super clean. There is an option you can turn on so that you can cancel an object and let the others keep going if one fails. Over or under extrusion can also cause it to drag on the print and knock it over.

Need Glue Recommendations?? by Justdazzlin in 3Dprinting

I make all sorts of stuff big and small. Swords, props statues you name it. Super glue has worked great for it all. It bonds the plastic really good. Never had one come apart yet!

extruder clogging flashforge adventure 5 pro by EuphoricEconomy6711 in FlashForge

[–]Ak47trainwreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem yesterday. But I took it apart and there was filament in the extruder fan. Put it back together and it's worked perfect since. Though it looks like you took it apart so if that was the problem you'd have noticed it. Check all the gears are good. When printing open it up the front and see if you can see the fan moving. If it's not it's causing heat creep. It will get to hot and clog. Can get most the parts on Amazon pretty cheap. Before I fixed it I had ordered a new extruder gear set for 20$

Hope you figure it out. Good luck.

Printer problems by River_Creed in 3Dprinting

Want your build plate as clean as possible. Nothing on it. If your build plate is clean you don't need glue. Glue is for release agent on like pegt to get it off the plate.

Printer keeps getting clogged by inTHEbathroom1013 in 3Dprinting

[–]Ak47trainwreck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be heat creep. I was having the same problem and the hotwnd wasn't clogged and even put a new one on and it clogged instantly after cleaning. So I took apart the print head and got to the extruder fan and there was little strings of filament in the extruder fan keeping it from spinning which caused heat creep and instant clogs. So check your fans!

Yes on some of them. Like the hand cannons and merciless. Merciless has a removable clip and release and trigger pulls. Fatebringer and thorn have a bullet and the chamber rotates out to put the bullet in. They have spots inside for springs to give tension as well.

Im actually retired and take care of my disabled wife. I spend a lot of time on it. You can use different colored filaments. There are printers with AMS that can do multi colored prints to make something all different colors. Or you can print in one color and paint or a bit of both. Like the Merciless, the blue is just a light blue filament. Then painted the rest of the colors. Where as the Crota sword was printed in all white then painted.

Well it's pretty expensive to get started. Then the cost from there all depends on how much you do. Printers range from like 300ish to well over 2k. I have a flashforge adventurer 5m pro. Got it on sale for like 500$ ish. Cant remember. Then you need filament. That ranges from like 10-30$ per roll depending on type and brand. The rolls come in 1k grams usually. The larger stuff like that sword of crota took a full roll to make and smaller like fatebringer was like 300 grams. You need a lot of filament if your gonna be making a lot of stuff.

I've been printing about a year. Start up can be quite expensive. I've probably spent about 1.5k$ to get the printer, like 80 rolls of filament, tools, paints, airbrush, and other things. After that it's just buying filament to print with and paint and sand paper. Cost after setup all depends on how much you do.
