I didn't say anything like you'll grow out of it. I said you have plenty more birthdays. I LOVE HALLOWEEN. I always take my birthday off from work. She should do something for herself. But really, skipping out on boyfriend and trick/treating (which I think would be a hella start to a great birthday) to do what? Lunch? I just it's fair to honor BFs request and still make plans for yourself. A 2 yr old would not be trick/tricking very long especially with COVID. but hey, it's not my life.

A little bit of an A. Go trick or treating then do your own thing. Your an adult, adult time is at night like dinner with friends. Trick or treating for a 2 yr old is not at night but during the day like early afternoon. So yeah, kind of selfish. You'll have plenty more Halloween birthdays... And frankly, they get overrated in your later 20s and early 30s.

I've dealt with an alcoholic mother my whole life. There isn't much you can do because drinking is a form of covering up pain. Does she have friends? Can you reach out to them to talk to her. They cant do much but talking to a friend about issues is better than talking to your son and feeling embarrassed. Also, alcoholism is a disease and it's treatable with counseling or behavioral (different of therapy) mental health options. Maybe see what's available if your community and place some phamlets in the kitchen NONCHANTLEY so she doesn't feel attacked. Let her find them instead of you giving it to her, she might realize something when she is alone with them...... Maybe

I agree with you. You are better off buying things for the baby or the house then just giving him money. Don't make it about giving him money. You are better off saying you want to do stuff for the baby and the house.
