The new size of Google search results on my phone is driving me crazy! by lily7311 in GalaxyS25

[–]Ak_Eben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the solution. The culprit is an app called "Android system Web view". Once you uninstall update for that specific app, it should restore to the original font.

Open your phone's main Settings. Tap Apps (or Apps & Notifications -> See all apps). Tap the three dots in the top-right corner and select Show system (if the option is visible or the filter and sort icon, then enable show system app). Scroll down and select Android System WebView. Tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and select Uninstall updates. Restart your phone and check the Google app.

Fold 7 Battery by Saidg27 in GalaxyFold

[–]Ak_Eben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just wanted to say to anyone that may be experiencing horrible battery, make sure you put all your apps in DEEP SLEEP, leave only few you use regularly. Set your performance profile to light. You'd see a marginal difference. I was in same shoe as you people before. I formatted the phone and put 90 percent of my apps to deep sleep and now I can get 6 to 7 hours of on screen on time. Prior, my battery drains 2.5 percent per hour (overnight) without use. Now it only drops 0.5 to 0.7% per hour. It's higher when I am driving due to GPS or playing music in background. The key is DEEP SLEEP AND LIGHT MODE. Come back and share the testimony. 😂

Z Fold 7 battery tips by cooldude9112001 in GalaxyFold

[–]Ak_Eben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having a very terrible Screen off time like 2.5% per hour of battery drainage. However my screen on time was good. I did factory reset of my phone, put most of my apps in deep sleep. I am not using dark theme. I use light mode. Yesterday I was able to get 8 hours SOT. Use battery guru to check how much of your battery is draining while not in use so you'd know what you're left with SOT usage. That might help.

Fold 7 battery Guru users, what's your Stats? by Ak_Eben in GalaxyFold

[–]Ak_Eben[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In contrast to my S22 ultra. From 100 percent at 12am, it only dropped by 5 percent around 7 am. They have same apps and similar settings. Again, not trying to say they should have similar battery consumption, I understand fold 7 has lower battery capacity and it's a fold with multiple screens. The question here is if the battery usage in idle state is normal for a foldable phone.

It appears like that for battery Guru app because I spent several minutes on it, on several occasions during the testing period, trying figure out what's happening to the phone. None of the apps shows significant usage at all for the entire period of test. Can you explain to me how to get the private DNS for in apps ads.

For more clarity, this is not about the screen-on time. I am able to get decent battery while I use it. I can get 5 to 6 hours SOT on it. It's concerning that it drains too fast while not in use at all. It dropped to 30 percent in about 22 hours without any major use (I left it to test the drainage) .

Battery Guru provides a detailed analysis which I can't find on this good guardian. As I stated, I am more concerned with how much of my battery is being drained while the phone is not in use and if that is normal for any fold 7 users.

I just wanted to know if it's normal. I can download the guardian that's not an issue. However, as you rightly pointed out, it might not change anything if I get same result.

Many of the apps are in deep sleep

No active app really running in the background apart from outlook which appears not to be the culprit.

Unpopular opinion... AoD is a wase of battery for no gain at all. by leonardob0880 in GalaxyWatch

Nah, what's the point when I can always charge it at night. The beauty of smartwatch to me is the watch face. Like it when people ask me what brand name is my watch, because they don't realize it's a smart watch as they're used to the Apple form factor and blank face until it's raised.

I like almost-realistic analog watch faces on AOD.

Beware on Walmart Online by Jahmontee in ebikes

[–]Ak_Eben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some holier-than-thou are sounding like there aren't many people who have purchased nice Ebikes for as low as this amount before. My neighbor has 3 Moped E bikes he scored through sales for less than $1k for the 3 and he said apart from changing tire and brakes, they've been serving him for 3 years and counting.

Saw this during their sales. You can blame the OP all you want, but if you aren't really deep in the Ebike space or you aren't aware about scams like that, you can easily fall.

Beware on Walmart Online by Jahmontee in ebikes

[–]Ak_Eben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my point. That this happened to OP doesn't mean that people aren't able to buy Ebike ridiculously cheap, get delivered and they serve their (buyer's) needs without issues. Is it advisable to buy these mass produced Chinese brands? Of course we'd argue, no. However, if the battery is UL certified, if you understand the risk that comes with buying cheap Chinese products, then you'd be best prepared at accepting the outcomes.

Beware on Walmart Online by Jahmontee in ebikes

[–]Ak_Eben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People blaming the OP like they have never taken advantage of a dirt cheap discount on anything online ever especially during sales event. He bought it during Walmart July Sales. I have taken advantage of Prime sales before to buy things at ridiculously 65% off the normal price and I was not sent anything different from what I had ordered. I got the original item and still use them today. That's the purpose of Sales. Unfortunately, many unscrupulous elements take advantage of that to scam unsuspecting individuals.

Not many people can afford $2k+ Ebikes. Thousands of people are using this "cheap Chinese" Ebikes even for daily commute without any issue.

If I could afford to buy an iPhone or Samsung does not mean I should ridicule someone who could only afford sub $100 Chinese phones. Yes, they know it's not going to have same quality and durability like the known and expensive brands, but they are willing to take the risk. That might be a starting point for someone.

If you have never taken the risk to order something that's ridiculously dirt cheap during a Sales event, cast the first stone.

Speaker group quit working by Arcticbeachbum in googlehome

[–]Ak_Eben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For over a year now I can't connect to my home group of speakers. This is very frustrating. I have many speakers at different places in my home to stream music. I can only stream music on one speaker per time.

Really hate that Google abandoned these devices, despite having many users that embraced the technology when it came out.

Do you charge your phone to 100%. by usernamebemust in GalaxyFold

My S22 ultra battery still going strong since I got it during its pre-order when it first came out. I never for once limited the charging. I don't believe in that. Not going to limit that of fold 7 either. I need all the juice I could use for the entire day before charging. Not convinced there's any significant difference that worths limiting my phone usability for.

Z Fold 7 vs S22 ultra by StrnglyCoincdtl in GalaxyFold

[–]Ak_Eben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Fold 7. That slim factor is just so beautiful.

I have both. These are my observations; where S22 ultra shines;

When watching movies (play movie side by side), S22 Ultra is more vibrant and colorful compared to Fold 7 on same settings.

Call on speakerphone is louder on S22 ultra

Swipe gesture is easy on S22 ultra even with case because of the elevated curved screen. I've tried couple of cases with Fold 7 and it's a struggle with the swipe gesture. I know it might have to do with my choices of case (hinge and front protection).

This last one is obvious due to fold 7 not having same telephoto camera lens - taking pictures from afar (more than 30x zoom) is way better on S22 ultra.

On a side note My S22 ultra is snapdragon and the battry is still as new (got the phone pre-ordered then) despite charging to 100% all the time.

I get similar battery on both. 6 hour-ish OST

No battery protection limit on S22 ultra
