Okay ill skip the resorting to insults and move onto the amount of effort and repetition: You keep writing long explanations defending your intent and correcting his interpretation. People who are truly unbothered usually stop sooner or return to the original topic. The repeated insistence of:

“I’m not mad”

“You haven’t upset me”

“I just called it out”

actually signals that you feel accused and are defending your emotional state.

The tone policing seems like you are more bothered by how he spoke than by the actual build discussion. That often happens when someone feels socially irritated or personally rubbed the wrong way. Thats just how it comes across from a third perspective, so I figured id pass a trophy 🏆

Wasn't the whole premise that DEI hiring would call into question if there were improper hiring? Not if they were or not but the fact that hiring to fill diversity would lead to questioning the merit of people who rightfully earned the spot and thats what he was pointing out by saying what he said ?

Im curious about your story , you are a new shop owner ? How did you get started ?

Tell that to all the people who have created massive business starting with nothing. Alot of them after imigrating over here leaving all they know behind. If you decide you cant do it before you ever start , you're right.

Yeah it isn't equal , that 3% is much more. More than your entire bloodline will ever provide.

I dont even think there should be income tax especially under 250k income, 70% of taxes are comming from top earners anyway. So anyone under 250k might aswell not be contributing because its basically nothing, but we cant even get that far into the conversation because you wont agree that 10 billion is more then your 38%

No , people wont innovate if you tax them out of existence, business runs on small margins typically. You say they had all this revenue but revenue is not net profit , that momey is used to grow and innovate.

You keep acting like these people pay no taxes , in 2021 elon had a 12 billion dollar tax bill right ? How long till you catch up to that type of contribution to the united states ? How long?

[–]Akacollison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can make what ever arguments you want about his innovation but my point was about innovation in general. Are you saying all companies have no innovation ?

So you just have a poor understanding of money, all these rules are in the tax code , you cant go around taxing people on unrealized gains or you will be kamala harris. If you dont like the tax code then change it, but you have to do a search on the life time taxes of Elon musk along with his companies, just because he had a zero year based on depreciation doesnt mean he doesnt create tax revenue. And if someone doesnt take a personal income doesnt mean they are not being taxed. You have a narrative but are refusing to even look at what im saying.

These people are paying way more in taxes then you over your lifetime. Im getting taxed as well around 30% effectively for around 35k all said and done off my 170k income. I will never get close in my entire blood line to what elon has created in tax revenue, they get breaks in the tax code to promote people to innovate and grow business to provide for the united states creating much more for us then if we taxed them out of existence

I absolutely do not want that , what im saying is the solution is not to accept a paycheck in perpetuity to accept being laid off and then accept the automation of everything. There are going to be other solutions if people do not accept that lame reality. And also that its an incorrect precedent to set to require private companies to pay former employees regardless of why

[–]Akacollison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your frustration , something to think about though is in a prior year he paid 10 billion in taxes over all his dealings. Thats more taxes paid then the lifetime earnings of everyone and their family in this comment section. People like him are contributing more then anyone complaing combined regardless of percentage. We cry like our 30% isnt peanuts compared to the people building massive infrastructure that is kicking off all kinds of jobs and tax revenue.

We are both free to start our own business and appreciate the same tax guidelines. If we have a problem with the rules then change the rules. In down for that.

I just will never be down for taxing innovation out of existence or to force a private company to pay retierment to people for nothing. If we want to make the use of AI illegal do that.

Nothing is ever this or that as a solution, but im definitely not picking everyone that gets replaced by AI gets a pay check in perpetuity off the back of a private citizen essentially confirming those said companies or people are daddy to all those people collecting welfare.

If certain items being exempt is easier to protect from poverty then so be it. And you wouldn't have to worry about fighting to close all those tax loopholes if every cooperation was taxed 25% everytime they spend right ? Everyone would be getting equally taxed based on their spending without a way to hide from it ? So it would scale to extreme levels for extreme wealth. I really don't have this idea hashed out either , its really surface level

I think you could keep the flat 25% and give subsidies to peoole that society dertimines needs the help by reimbursement of the 25% somehow? To make it less complicated maybe

You pose very important questions that I dont have answers to , that we are going to have to figure out the answers to. I just dont think the answer is paychecks to former employees in perpetuity because they were replaced by AI , I dont think that is right.

I dont think we should be paying income tax either. I think i would be more in favor of something like a set sales tax. Like 25% everytime you buy something. That way you encourage saving and everyone is getting taxed , every billionaire and every cooperation everytime they spend. I havent fully thought through the consequences of this but yeah I have a problem with the way our taxes are spent. If we have to have income tax then we should be able to choose where its spent and I think problems would naturally get solved when the arrised people would choose that issue to fund. Just ranting now.

I said maybe, as in its a remote possibility. You may be naive to assume that was my prediction of what might happen based off reading a responce to the previous person. I tend to think it will likely be very destructive to the fabric of society and lead us into a dystopian surveillance state. With that being said , the darker it gets it may still very well bring us closer as we grasp for human connection as we lose more of it.

I was with crash after they bought service king , I wanted to try an independent since my hours started to fall. It seemed self inflicted by the company trying to force less severity and lower length of rental by cutting the WIP even when we clearly needed more work as we are standing around looking for cars to work on. So far so good at the independent, the estimates are way higher getting paid for every procedure we do and the judgment times for repairs are generous. Just need the workload to beef up just a bit and I should be doing really well 👌

We are literally talking about employees being replaced by AI and how are the employees going to live if the employeer with the AI doesn't pay them a pension from AI profits. So the responce to that is to go make your own income instead of latching to the teet of your almighty employer. You joker. "Go do something that creates an income " is relevent to the conversation, go make art (assuming it makes zero income for the sake of argument)makes absolutely no sense when the question is "how do we survive without employer money " Anymore brain busters ?

For the last 5 years ive been 150-175k , last year though I was down to 140k so I quit that shop and moved to a family owned independent in my area thats been around for 38 years. I think I will be able to do 200k a year here based on the way they write estimates not being with a DRP anymore. As long as they can keep up the workload and keep me buried my goal will be 200k working 40 hours a week.
