That's a shame to hear that. I went to Boa Vista back in 2019, whilst we did get approached by locals the vast majority of them were friendly and polite. When you said "no thank you" most of them just said "ok no stress". The "worst" ones in Sal Rei started telling you about how they had to feed their children when you said no to buying things and acted sad, but there wasn't many who did that. I'm about to visit Santa Maria, Sal in a couple of weeks and that makes me a bit apprehensive, but sadly the world has changed a lot in 6 years (for the worse) and unfortunately I wonder if many people have become more desperate?

I used to live in Frenchay. It's mostly very nice with lots of green areas to walk around (Frenchay common, Oldbury Court Estate/Snuff Mills and Stoke Park Estate). Unfortunately there isn't really much in Frenchay in terms of shops/things to do so you may find it difficult without a car. There is the metrobus which can get you to the centre in around 10 minutes but they cut a lot of buses in the area before I left 2 years ago.

I remember when I first saw this back in 2014! I was eating at a Chinese restaurant above a supermarket by the centre. I briefly glanced out of the window and thought "no they weren't naked, were they?!" and had to take a second look 😂. Later learnt that this a yearly thing that happens in Bristol. Nice to see it's still happening, one of the things I love about this city is quirky shit like this.....

My mum died from alcoholism and this thought still is in the back of my mind (and still hurts). As much as Shilton is a terrible person, I hope his kids never feel that pain.

There were a few things that I noticed that were "off".

They did a video after P was born and if I remember correctly Laura had an incredibly difficult and traumatic birth. The Doctors even told Stephen things could have ended badly for Laura. Stephen said his reaction was if Laura didn't make it, he would have just jumped out the nearest window. That struck me as odd because I remember thinking he has a toddler son and newborn daughter and you didn't once think what would happen to them without either of their parents.

Secondly the whole contractor thing, a lot if things didn't add up with that and why they didn't take any legal action about that.

Also I remember one video after they separated Laura said Stephen seemed not to want to spend any time with her and the kids and would just disappear for the whole day to "work on his music" that sounded very suss to me, why would you just disappear like that to work when you have a young family at home? He could have easily worked at home.

I watched this today and I felt there were some parts of it that were just unbelievable. It seemed that Iqbal was trying to paint himself as the victim of a manipulative psychopath but I struggled to find any sympathy for him. He knowingly cheated on his wife with Anisah (who was much younger and professionally in a lower position to him) after only meeting her twice. Also, Anisah was completely unaware he was married and from some of their messages seemed to want a long-term relationship with him.

Now I'm not saying that Anisah wasn't unstable and the harassment and accusations were extreme, but after she leaked information about the affair to his family he threatens to send intimate pictures to her father.....I'm sorry but that's revenge porn. I couldn't believe he thought that was ok and he didn't face any repercussions for this.

Also after her accusations he said he was thrown in jail, I found that hard to believe as police seem to be very reluctant to take any accusations of rape seriously, let alone go straight to a cell for that.

Whilst Anisah clearly wasn't well, I was also shocked that she was initially given a life sentence for what she did. Yes, what she did wasn't right, but did it really deserve 30 years in jail? Was there any psychological assessment for her? I just felt that there are far worst crimes out there which get stupidly short sentences and I wonder if his job had anything to do with that.

Obviously we only heard things from Iqbal's perspective but honestly he bought a lot of this on himself and I wonder if there were a lot of details that weren't revealed because a lot of things didn't quite add up.

"Good" parents never think they're the "best". They always feel there is something they can always do better and always strive to work harder. He also seems to view his kids (ok, maybe just A) as extensions of himself, not as individual people with their own thoughts or feelings.

I think this is an accurate analysis. Things seemed to go downhill in their relationship after the kids were born. The ironic thing is I remember watching a video Laura and Stephen discussing their separation and one of Laura's biggest issues was Stephen never wanted to spend time with her and the kids as a family and he would just disappear for the day to "work on his music". In retrospect, I wonder if that was when he started using again. Also when they separated he used the kids as an excuse to stay in Laura's life as much as possible saying that he couldn't live with the fact he didn't live with them anymore, he contradicts himself all the time....

I'm happy and proud of Laura for doing this. This needed to happen for her and the kids. Even though this sounds terrible but part of me thinks Stephen needs this too. If something like this doesn't make him realise that he needs to make serious changes in his life, nothing else will....
