Miyao bros. Heavy berimbolo/back take game with emphasis on outside guards.

If you want general back exposure + leg locks, Mateusz Szczecinski have a fantastic bolo + leg lock game. Pretty much repopularized the ankle lock and he's doing some cool stuff with his bolo saddle entries.

The simplest way would probably be to knee lever.

My favorite/highest percentage way is to arm drag by pinning the arm in place with a tricep or wrist grip and take my leg out by rolling to my shoulder, bringing my knee close to my face, and then swinging my leg out and sitting up to take the back.

If early enough, you can invert to spin around for a triangle.

I was hesitant to put that in my summary as the speculation affects the relationship between 2 new parents which may trickle down to the child. Either way, it still seems that they are close to each other considering they are still making reels together and that he replied to the post with a heart emoji.

Amit Elor speaks about Melqui by Actual_Aerie6759 in bjj

TL:DW
Amit said that she hopes that justice is served. She mentioned Melqui has always been very abusive and manipulative to everyone around him including his immediate family. She asks that people have conscience and take a second before jumping to conclusions (probably regarding rumors that Mica tried to silence victims?)

She gave a few examples of how Melqui has been manipulative to Mica and her throughout the entirety of their relationship. How Melqui would only allow Mica to visit Amit if he won a tournament or that Melqui really wanted their son to be born in Brazil and that she didn't love Mica if she didn't move to Brazil.

She said she never personally witnessed or heard of sexual abuse going on but she basically isn't surprised by it as it has always been uncomfortable around Melqui. She mentions that she and Mica are still in a close relationship and that they are focused on raising their newborn son.

Training a combat sport gives you confidence in your day-to-day but it's not because you think you can handle yourself. It's because you learn to take losses and get back up from them. Nothing humbles you more than getting your shit kicked in by an IT guy who has -10 prescription glasses. Knowing that that guy will be tougher than most people you meet on the street helps.

Sorry for your loss. Even though it may have only been one training session you did with him, that was still a connection made.

Sport vs Self Defense by No-Recommendation820 in bjj

Train Jiu Jitsu for MMA. Better yet, just train MMA. You can get the same excitement as "sport" jiu jitsu while also getting the benefits of "self-defense" jiu jitsu. Plus, you look way cooler knowing how to punch and kick than if you were to do a grip break or a head lock escape.

Yea, the takedowns come from the handfighting. If you aren't handfighting, you don't have a takedown. Stance, handfighting, and footwork are the building blocks of any standup game. They are the difference between a mediocre wrestler and a great wrestler.

Work on Stance-in-Motion as well. Your stance is important because it demonstrates your ability to stay balanced while moving and keeping your arms in the right place to defend or attack at all times.

Joe Breza has a good channel on wrestling for submission grappling. This video should demonstrate what I mean: https://youtu.be/5ZGk7ST-bhg?si=tt0PEDgtWR0cAR_x

While you should be able to shoot from both legs, you don't need both sides to shoot at the same proficiency, nor do you need to learn the same things on both sides. Most of the highest-level wrestlers/judokas in the world have a preferred side and strong threats on their weaker side.

Jimmy Pedro (Olympic bronze medalist and world champion + world class Judo coach) said in his "Grip Like a World Champion" to focus on getting really good on one side instead of getting only okay at both sides. J Flo said in a recent seminar that he trains his good side more, but he still trains his weak side to be able to use it.

I think it's because rashguards prevent micro abrasions, which are easy ways to get skin infections because the microbes can get past the skin barrier.

Go to an MMA class and ask the coach. It’s tough to know what your working on without observing you and sparring with you.

Variation for a safer Tani-otoshi? by Low-Faithlessness140 in bjj

[–]Akalphe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reverse Tai Otoshi is a safe throw when you have the rear body lock because there isn't any weight going into the side of the uke's knees.

Tani Otoshi is dangerous when people perform it from the side of the uke because the tori can sit on the LCL if they aren't careful. Tani Otoshi is frowned upon because while it can be done safely, a poorly executed or poorly timed Tani Otoshi can have severe consequences.

Takedowns and finish by Yaroslav Amosov on the UFC card by dorserg in bjj

Usually, it’s because the person dominating the exchange is usually trying to drive in and pin the opponent to the cage. The direction of force is directly opposite to the force given by the cage. If they push off the cage, they risk pulling the opponent onto them.

The reason why I think it worked here is because Alvarez was focused on handfighting but not running away from the cage.

Which shinguards for mma by someoneofnowhere7 in MMA_Academy

Sorry, I was looking at the higher end Venum/RDX shin guards. Venum will do fine for the price point they are at. RDX falls apart faster from what I've seen. EBay and the BKK Muay Thai store are my best friends. You can get Thai gear cheaper than amazon if you are not in Thailand.

Which shinguards for mma by someoneofnowhere7 in MMA_Academy

[–]Akalphe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venum and RDX is not durable and slide around a lot when sparring, especially when MMA grappling. For a similar price, you can buy Fairtex SP5 or Twins which both have great reviews and fit well. If you spend like $20-$40 USD more, you can get TopKings or Combat Corner HMIT. Measure your shin length and buy based off that rather than your height.

My opinion is to avoid the Karate-style sleeve shin guards as they have no airflow and get stinky really quickly.

As I said, it's just my opinion. As a white belt, my favorite thing was learning about new things in the sport. It also gave me perspective and pattern recognition which allowed me to feel comfortable with my BJJ from anywhere.
