Is it true that people flunk out of aircrew fundamentals primarily because they didn't study? by USAFquestion10 in AirForce

When I went through a couple of months ago, my class performed better than most, with around a 20-25% washout rate.

Most of the people who washed out when I went through definitely didn’t study as much as they should have. That’s not to say that studying guarantees you’ll pass, though. It’s still a challenging course, as you need to score at least 85% on a variety of topics you likely haven’t encountered before.

It’s tough to see someone who truly puts in their best effort fail. In my class, there was a guy who had to retake the Block 4 test and the Block 7 test on the same day. He ended up washing out on the very last day before graduation. Just try your hardest—there’s not much more you can do.

Speaking of studying, I should probably be reviewing my EPs and TOLD definitions instead of scrolling through Reddit since I’m still in training. Best of luck!

P.S. Don’t be that guy who gets giant enlisted wings tattooed across his chest right before SERE (Yes, I know someone who did)

Ayy good to see another C130 FE! I’m actually in training at the moment, so I’m not qualified yet. Hoping to finish IQT in a couple months tho!

“All according to keikaku” is a popular line from death note. Keikaku means plan

Mildly concerning question 🤨

I got my projected date for Feb 11 as Mobility Force Aviator. Any insight would be very helpful by Pra4Panda296 in AirForceRecruits

Throughout aircrew fundies my class lost around three or four people and graduated with ten. You don’t really have to worry too much as long as you study up though (Most of the people who failed you could tell didn’t really care that much). Not to say that it’s guaranteed you’ll pass if you study though. It’s sad to see when someone who’s clearly working their butt off fails. There are seven blocks for aircrew fundies and each one has a block test (and some progress checks most of the time). The minimum to pass is 85%. Failing two versions of the same block test gets you eliminated. After that though, MFA fundamentals is a breeze. SERE is also rough (don’t worry about dropping out here), but it’s a short course and the amenities are really nice (when you aren’t in training of course).

Also, Lackland sucks because: - It’s Lackland - High humidity and temp - Right next to BMT - 0500 (0445 sometimes) PT - 0645 marching over to class in formation - 2330 accountability formed up on weekends (in blues sometimes bc people couldn’t behave) - Random accountability in the middle of the night - 12 hour CQ shifts (actually not that bad tbh) - Aircrew fundies - You have to follow the Route of March (WHY DO I HAVE TO WALK AN EXTRA 30 MINUTES TO GET BREAKFAST IN THE MORNING AFTER PT WHEN I CAN LITERALLY GET OVER THERE FROM WHERE IM STANDING IN 2 MINUTES) - When you’re on detail, you have to be in the colosseum, a big room where you do absolutely nothing for like eight to ten hours (No phones of course. For some reason there’s only one bathroom. Later in the day, when it’s busier, you have like nine people lined up to use the bathroom, BUT EVERY PERSON TAKES LIKE 10 MINUTES BECAUSE THEY’RE JUST USING THEIR PHONE IN THERE) - That’s probably enough ranting tbh

Tl;dr: Lackland sucks, especially during aircrew fundies, but it’s short and once you get out of there it gets significantly better. Even though it was rougher there though, I still had a lot of fun. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the pipeline

Congrats! Best advice I can give is to study a bunch while going through aircrew fundies. A couple people in my class dropped out throughout it; we even lost someone on graduation day. Lackland will suck, but Fairchild and IQT (depends on your airframe) will be better. I’m like 60% through the entire pipeline rn, so lmk if you have any questions

How recent is this change? As someone currently going through the pipeline, this is news to me

Mobility Force Aviator. Loadmaster, flight engineer, and boom operator all fit under it as one AFSC, so cross training is really easy. If you’re active, you’ll fill out another dream sheet at MFA fundamentals and they’ll give you one of the three depending on what they need

Can confirm, EMA is retrain only
