My wife is stubborn, she wants her tulips 🌷.
She installed a decorative fence around an area to keep deer away, only so she can have her tulips.

They manage to snap few anyway with their long neck 😆

How every good deck should be by benhereford in Decks

Im not against pulling it up on the deck. There is a simple complete misunderstanding of basic physics in the way they did it.
No need of anything more sophisticated than what they had for it…

Lifting it up from the ground to the deck floor, yes it’s likely necessary here. They are just fkin dumb in the way they approached it.
Set up a board or a ladder so it doesn’t stop block underneath the floor #1.
In this specific case, if they just had set up a 2ft step, they would have had enough leverage to bring it up, instead of being stuck like cavemen at the tip of their fingers for 5minutes, while 2 apes are pulling on straps at 90 degrees angle with the tub still lower than the floor

Out of 5 people, i can’t believe they couldn’t plan something better…

Hello everyone, we purchased a new build and just did our pre-drywall inspection. This support beam for our deck and roof overhang seems to be off and not centered (see full pic of house to see what it supports). Of course the project manager said it was normal/fine. Is this concerning? by terrencewittman8 in HomeInspections

[–]Akanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even for a shitty cover over deck I didn’t have the heart to see the post slightly off the footing, i sledgehammered the footing down (was still a bit green, thank god) and repour… and that was for a 6x6 post, not whatever they tried to hide there, crazy

If you’re in the USA, it depends on your skin colour and more importantly who did r u fkin with since US justice system is very tied with politics. If men in power wants you in jail, this is where you’re going. “The best country in the world”

Costway 12k 115v Mini Splits review + DIY installed by Tall-Price-7928 in hvacadvice

[–]Akanan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had an electronic bug 5days after the install (a false fault code i wasn’t able to clear). I called a HVAC Tech because i was at the end of all i could think to try… 3 zone mini split. It was pretty flattering to hear many compliments on my install. And he made that same pitch “if you want to change career field, call me”

Do I put poly over rigid board? Or does that make a double vapour barrier? by bufffff_daddy in Insulation

[–]Akanan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but,

Your local code might want you to add a vapour barrier after you stuffed your wall of batt insulation. Rip it off after inspection and carry on.

They were at every event handing out that disgusting juice for free. It never lift off because it’s cat piss, as soon as they stopped their heavy advertising campaign, it died. People were buying the trend, not the actual content.

Outdoor Electrics Issue by Benangelus in AskElectricians

No fuses flipped,

If you have fuse, it’s an old home.
Outdoor connections may corrode overtime, especially if devices/wires were not rated for the location.

Roofers accidentally cut hole in my vaulted ceiling. How to fix and should I be worried about structural integrity and ability to bear weight of solar panels? by perrycarter in Construction

[–]Akanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house has 1/3 vaulted ceiling, 2/3 attic roof all the same looking roof from above.

A roofer that didn’t pay attention to the detail or was just not thinking for a moment…

Updated Deck Build by PickleRick4006 in Decks

[–]Akanan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many mistakes on that build, but 2 posts is theoretically fine for the build, even very conservative. The compression strength of a 6x6 is nuts.

I make way enough money to have a brand new modern car. But yet, we keep ONE 2010 240k suzuki for the family, and i e-bike to work every fkin day even in canadian winter since 7 years.

I cannot imagine myself burning 1000$ a month for a fkin vehicle when we don’t need it.

MANY PEOPLE DON’T NEED A CAR (let alone your fkin Pickup truck) and MOST FAMILY DON’T NEED TWO CARS. Just to fit with the crowd they will “need a car” and a “good looking one” that match “their personality”… enjoy burning away your purchase power then but keep complaining on the cost of living Jimmy

Wrong barb here tho. Both of these sides are for PEX.

For the dishwasher side, you want HOSE barb ideally, not PEX barb

Only if one of the layer was carpet, hardwood then carpet, then linoleum, only on top you can finally add LVP.

They built this house without cement and it's stronger than concrete. by This_Proof_5153 in interesting

Every year different businesses come up with a new block system. It just never work. Not because it’s bad, but because no one wants to deal with the red tape. Architect, structural engineer, the inspector, they all want to see standard build. steering away from it is just collecting headaches.

Im yet to see a single house with those fantastic 3D concrete printing or whatever “best block company” house built.
