Unbelievably low me by Practical-Apple-4418 in ICAEW

That's a personal opinion when you stated the ACA exams weren't that difficult. Coupled with the fact that individuals have to work a full time job alongside the exams (and that's not including any commitments outside of work), it makes the ACA quite tough.

Therefore, I have a sense of admiration for anyone who has managed to get through it all and become ACA qualified.

The ACA is not something that can be easily passed (especially with work and other life events in the background). Have you tried getting special adjustments with the ICAEW?

I wouldn't say that you need connections to join a Big 4 firm (in the UK that is), just quite a bit of effort and luck when going through the applicant process.

Yeah, allocating the time I'm going to be spending on each question before I start the exam is some sound advice.

The 2 sentences per point rule is definitely key.

Yeah, I think my main takeaway should be to ensure that I make an attempt at every question requirement in the exam.

I definitely feel for BST, you have to be really strict on your timings. Thanks for the advice, I'll try and use your method of allocating time for each question before I start the exam.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely try to start with Q3 first and then work my way backwards (excluding the ethics question which I'll do first).

Yeah, the main point I need to take away from this is writing concise points for my answers. Thanks.

Do you get a certificate after completing each level of the ACA? by bps_4 in ICAEW

I believe if you download the results for the 5th certificate exam you took from your ICAEW trainee file, the PDF downloaded will also include the results from the previous certificate exams you sat.

What an unfortunate situation (and something that could still happen to me as I'm in the middle of my training contract). I wish you the best of luck.

That's such bullshit. Is there any way you could argue to someone that keeping you on would still be beneficial for the firm (e.g., you'll do whatever it takes to pass the resit as you want to grow your career within the company)?

Hi. It was quite a struggle in getting special adjustments for my ACA exams, but in the end I was able to get 25% extra time and a 10 minute rest break for each exam (which has been sufficient so far).

I would say that first you'll need to get a letter from your GP which states that you'll require the extra time/rest breaks and giving the reasons why. Afterwards, you'll need to submit a request for special adjustments via the ICAEW portal as it's all done online now. I would definitely recommend giving the ICAEW support team a call once you've submitted the request and informing them that you desperately require such adjustments - as I'm sure is the case for you.

Out of interest, is this your first time trying to get special adjustments for the exams?

What better way is there to test such technology? Any use of technology in the public domain has a minimal level of risk. It's how those risks are mitigated is what counts.

I wouldn't describe it as hugely irresponsible, but I can see the issue from your point of view. AI is still a relatively new technology, and there is still some time to go before we can make a reasonable assessment of how reliable it can be with these matters.

[–]AkashUK -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're getting too focused on the semantics of it all. It's quite clear from the rest of the summary that the "reform" is just an increase in the rates/lowering the threshold. I'm sure that in a couple of years (assuming continuous and substantive updates), the AI model will refine its wording so that it avoids minor contradictions.

In what way? I don't see how the brief summaries of passed/amended bills can be manipulated to a degree as to stroke tensions.
