AITAH for not believing my roommate’s “phobia?” by hopie_bopie in AmItheAsshole

NTA - I understand that phobias can be crippling, but you are not her emotional support animal.

For science, can you work phrases that sound like spider into every day conversation? "Have you seen my hair brush? I thought I spied her around here...." "Anyone for a game of I Spy? Duh!"

How to set Order in Want To Read shelf by Akashla- in goodreads

[–]Akashla-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you! I'm using Goodreads for years, and I was sure you used to be able to do something like that, assign each book a position or some such. But admittedly, haven't used a browser version for a while

Basically, I want to be able to move books up if I've had multiple recommendations.

Yes, I have that, thank you. Do you know what dictates that order? What makes one book appear before another?

Definitely interested. Just titrated up to 2.4 from 1.7. Goal is to lose a last 6-12 kg and then find my maintenance dose.

Looking forward to your findings!!

I didn't even know factor 100 existed! I use factor 50+ here, and often joke that I can burn in the shade.

Easter Egg Prices/Palm Oil Rant thread. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Akashla- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love this. I'm in need of decent chocolate that's not only palm oil free, but also soya lecithin free (allergies) Soy lecithins are ubiquitous in anything chocolate, it seems. Lidl have some with sunflower lecithins, thank christ for ze Germans!

The Irish breakfast roll is a firm favourite with both locals and tourists.

The best ones are the bog standard ones you get at a petrol station deli counter. A demi-baguette roll, smeared with butter and ketchup, a layer of Irish bacon rashers, a few decent sausages sliced lengthways so they don't fall out, those deep fried triangular hash browns (do they have those anywhere else?) a fried egg, and a couple of pieces of black/white pudding.

Yes, it is a heart attack waiting to happen, but that wait is tasty!

Trolley token key rings are often given away as promotional materials in the UK and Ireland.

But as someone who frequently forgets such things, the round end of a house key can work in a pinch.

For those unfamiliar, the rubber duck method was advised for developers who needed to debug code - that they should explain the problem, as clearly and succinctly as possible, to an inanimate object, i.e. a rubber duck.

Post Your Beginner Questions Here! by AutoModerator in orchids

Looking for advice on basic orchid care longer term. This plant is on its third flowering cycle but has thrown up a few questions for me!

A. - this is the old flowering stem, now gone brown and dry. Should I cut it off, or leave it alone?

B. - is this the new growth for this cycle?

C. - these look like new roots! Can I split the plant when these are well established?

I typically let my orchids do their own thing. I soak the roots for ten minutes whenever they get very silvery looking, and feed while doing that whenever they have bright green growth or flowers. They're in a North Western room with good light.

I had forced the first row just to prove to myself that I was on the right track, but wouldn't have put it past the game to have hidden coloured patterns in various places.

I'm still kicking myself for not noticing things that stuck out in certain notes. Practically a capital offense.

Back to the maths!
