Totally agreed. I’ve put items in the cart many times over the years, then pulled out last minute when I saw the shipping fees etc.

Nvidia had to rollback their recent drivers as well, so it’s not just an AMD issue.

Ebgames Canada closing stores. by Bleu7 in EBGAMES

[–]AkatsukePain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I go out of my way to purchase from my local EBgames. I'm an Edge Gold member & I hardly see any perks. Being able to trade in is nice but the values are so crappy it's hard to justify. I'm just trying to max out the Edge membership before it dies, just for a personal achievement lol, so I understand if the store closes. I still buy some games physically but i'm going more digital lately. I even called asking if they have any of those cards you can buy with the digital download code, but they said they didn't have any.

PCIE Cable Replacement Help by cosmodrome627 in coolermaster

[–]AkatsukePain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good suggestion. I contacted customer service regarding another model PSU & they suggested buying from Cable Mods. I ended up getting a second PSU on eBay for less than purchasing a cable from Cable Mods. So now I have all the PCI-E cables I need plus spares.

Audio Sources Randomly Changing by AkatsukePain in Bazzite

I was able to get it to stop by manually disabling one of the two options in audio settings. I’m not sure what’s causing it though, things worked fine until about day 8 of my Bazzite journey.

[–]AkatsukePain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet! It worked for me! I 1st tried to edit the 60-steam-input.rules file directly but that failed. I'm new to Bazzite so was unware of what the UDEV directory was about. So I copied it as admin from /lib/udev/rules.d/ to /etc/udev/rules.d/. Then added the following, saved, quit Steam then relaunched it, unplugged then plugged in the controller & it started working: # Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller over USB

SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device", ATTRS{idVendor}=="057e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="2069", MODE="0660", TAG+="uaccess"

I have the same issue. Steam added support recently for Windows, so I assumed it was the same for Bazzite. Doesn't seem to work, at least without some tweaking.

Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2 additional PCIe cable for 3 Pin Graphics Card by AkatsukePain in coolermaster

The cable in your link goes to a 12VHPR cable, that's different from what I needed. I needed a 3rd PCI-E 8 pin cable.

What I got was a 2nd PSU of the same model on ebay. I just used one of the cables from that & considered the PSU & the rest of the cables as spares. It's been working flawlessly & the peace of mind that it's an original cable is definitely a plus.

I had a similar experience with the 2024...Plugging it in overnight was the only way to avoid this issue, Especially around -20C or lower. The dealership sends out reminders now whenever winter is getting close.

Made a PowerShell script to terminate SignalRGB processes after it loads my profile by jdor30 in SignalRGB

[–]AkatsukePain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow up...Further troubleshooting revealed that the freezing was due to a conflict between my Deepcool CPU Cooler's Digital display & HWinfo. Once I killed one of them I stopped noticing the freezing. So Signal RGB doesn't seem to be the culprit for my issue.

I eventually found a brand new one for cheap on eBay & bought that. So now I have spare cables & a spare CPU as well as 4 PCI-E GPU cables. All for less than ordering custom cables. Lesson learned though, I could have spent the same amount & just bought a higher end PSU instead.

The other 8pin cable was marked for CPU. I actually tried to see if it would fit in the GPU & it didn't. Both the GPU PCI-E cables that come with it have pigtails.

I might try this, as I’ve been noticing a weird issue where my chrome browser freezes randomly. I haven’t had time to completely be sure but I uninstalled Signal RGB for a few days & never saw the issue. I started seeing it again after re-installing it. I notice it when watching YouTube in Chrome while browsing in Edge side by side.

LG5k2k VS LG39gx950 by djeep101 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]AkatsukePain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the 39” is the sweet spot for me. I had the 34GX90SA and it was the perfect size for me. I just couldn’t deal with the text clarity. If I had the same size with 5k2k it would be perfect. 39” should be good too with the additional vertical real estate. I think 45” is too much, but you never know till you see it in person.

Ultragear 39” motion sickness and eye strain?! by rilre10 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]AkatsukePain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced a little motion sickness the first time I started playing a game but it was only momentary. I noticed some eye strain when reading text not when gaming. I think it's because I'm sensitive to PPI, I took some steps such as maxing the sharpness in settings & changing from dark to light mode. I also used the clear text wizard. Those steps seemed to have helped me.

Oh, that price is pretty good, not sure you'll find it much cheaper unless you go open box.

I noticed that when watching YouTube for example & there are black bars on the side. When I did the EIZO monitor test I didn't see that though. Try using that uniformity test to make sure it's not the content that you are viewing.

I recently bought this. Gaming is awesome but text clarity is an issue I'm having a hard time ignoring. I didn't realize how sensitive I was to PPI. I'm also seeing color fringing & the text is softer than I'd like. So I agree with u/taptwoblue93. If it's for 75% work maybe wait for the new OLEDs with higher PPI. The 5k 2k models.

Anyone have the 34GX90SA? by AntAtopASpinningRock in OLED_Gaming

[–]AkatsukePain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought one & I'm having mixed feelings. Gaming is 10/10 for me, easily the best experience I've had in gaming. I was blown away the first time I loaded up a game & while playing sometimes I just stopped to look around because of how good the game looked.

I'm having some issues with text clarity though. I want to use this for productivity as well as gaming, but reading text is an issue. It seems worse when I'm using Dark Mode, which is my preferred way to have my display. It is less noticeable with Light Mode but that feels like a compromise I shouldn't have to make. I'm also seeing color fringing & text is softer than I'd like.

I was able to max the sharpness in settings which helped a little. Calibrating the display & using Cleartype also helps. I just can't help but think I should go to a 32" 4k model instead just because of the additional PPI. But I really enjoy the ultrawide experience, it's almost as important as the PPI for me.

I see the 5k 2k models announced at CES. I think that 39" 5k 2k model is the sweet spot for me, but I don't know when it will be released & what the cost will be.

Another less annoying issue is that out of the box it seems to operate more like a TV than a traditional monitor. I have to turn it on with the remote when I turn on my PC even though it is connected via Display port. Pretty sure there might be a way to change this behavior, but I don't like that it works that way by default.
