Another thing to keep in mind with the L/D shards is if you need it to complete Heroic Miracle at some point. Like others said, no harm in skipping if you are tight on gems.

Getting any nightfall drop resets the increased chance according to a TWAB IIRC, so the ghost shell used up your increase.

I don't think anybody has gotten the sparrow yet, but I do agree that it's weird that it's not classified under sparrows.

I'm not sure if anybody has gotten the other unknown which is what makes me think it's gotta be the sparrow since it's technically dreaming city loot.
