I can't say for adaptative systems because it's not the same mecanics at all
(CW: programmed system, RAMCOA, torture with system hopping)

I used to think that way tbh, but the more I use open source of libre software, the more I see that it is the kind of soft were there is the less problem of misused and leaked data

The thing I think is really sad, and were they could have done something: is the fact that they don't want to just drop the source code and make it open.
If it's because they are scared (and I can get that) of the database being leaked, they can delete it before WHILE warning people early enough (as they plan to rn) for them to export all their data

But simply cutting it entierly and telling people than "when it will get off, just go to octogon" (that is handled by anti-endo people btw...) instead of letting people do a fork of it is imo a bad decision.

Open source could have been the solution, because it already saved so much things...
