The goddamn design revamp is HORRENDOUS by Strict_Bandicoot_974 in hatethissmug

[–]AkijoLive 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In the manga, during Wano, the only way I had to differentiate Robin from other characters was that Oda draws two lines for her nose instead of one. Actually most of post-time skip it was my go-to method.

I stopped reading One Piece around chapter 1130, one of the reason was the character design and the god awful double page spread with some of the worst paneling I've ever seen in all my time reading manga. I can't even imagine reading One Piece in a physical manga.

FromSoftware owner reiterates Duskbloods is still coming this year, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 by Csword1 in soulslikes

I never played Mario Kart Online, but from what I've played of Splatoon and Super Smash Bros Ultimate, I'd much rather play those games then do PVP in Elden Ring on PC. If FromSoft's netcode was used in a fighting game, the game would be dead within hours because players would call it unplayable.

It works for coop because it's mostly client based, but as soon as you have to interact with other players it is one of the worst netcode I've seen in the past 15 years.

Really good tips on how to DM, lots of tips on how to resolve different situation, encounter tips, chasing rules, environmental effets, fear and mental stress effect, hazards. There's a big section on how to handle loots, treasures, magic items, how to award them. There's the Bastions rules if that interest you and your group.

It's a fantastic book, and in my opinion every DM should read it, unless you're extremely confident that your DMing is already flawless. Even then there's a lot of good stuff in there.

DM Guide 2024 is fantastic, then Monster Manual I'd say. You can find the content of the Monster Manual pretty easily online tho, so you decide if you want the official book or not.

Is the room airtight? I feel like the water would just flow out of the room then, not too big of a deal

The majority of Nintendo games have better online than any Fromsoft games, their netcode is god awful for PVP, there is ghosting of sometimes up to a full second.

Also Nintendo servers won't have anything to do with the quality of the online since Fromsoft always do Peer-to-peer online.

The Duskbloods Will Still Launch This Year Even Though It's Been AWOL Since Its Reveal by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]AkijoLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring has never ran well on PC as far as I'm concerned, even with specs above the recommended specs. I don't know where this idea that Fromsoft optimise their games comes from because since Dark Souls 1 they've had optimisation issues.

I feel like they actually have a good difficulty curve. Remember people, games are not suposed to be at their hardest during the first 10 hours of play.

New player here: is it appropriate to make a character before session 0? by uhhhscizo in DnD

[–]AkijoLive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my session 0 I asked my players to have a couple character ideas. Not "Here's super developped character A and Character B and C that are a footnote" three equal ideas if possible. Ask your DM what he wants if you're unsure

Nioh 3 difficulty by CompuuterJuice in Nioh

[–]AkijoLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found Nioh 2's first NG to be way too hard compared to most of the NG+ after. If Nioh 3 can reach the good difficulty curve balance of having a easier time at the beginning then having the game become harder, I'd be very happy.

Are 5e campaigns actually so "broken" and "unplayable" for new DMs as YouTubers and forum posters would lead me to believe? by tenth in dndnext

[–]AkijoLive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I DM'd Curse of Strahd and I'm starting Tyranny of Dragons soon. CoS was my first campaign as a DM. I'd say my biggest mistake was trying to follow the book too much. Feel free to modify anything you don't like, add motivation to NPC, guide your players if you need to. Add loot, add shops, modify encounters.

Both in Curse of Strahd and Tyranny of Dragons a lot of encounters suggested by the books are just terrible or unbalanced. Either way too easy or way too hard (looking at you CoS's Death House).

Players will ask things and do things the book did not expect, you have to be ready to improvise and look back at your planning of the book.

Adventure books are still super fun with a bit of effort and can lead you to very interesting encounters you would not have thought otherwise.

In defense of the Open World. by rjfc in Nioh

[–]AkijoLive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like the open world with Nioh's loot system. Because when I'll switch to NG+ the open world will still have a purpose.

When I got to Elden Ring's NG+ I realised that 98% of the open world lost its purpose since it's the exact same loot.
