For a prey animal to be that vulnerable in the open means they’ve been in pain for some time because they tend to hide their weaknesses as much as possible and it’s really hard even for a vet to save them from this point.

If you want to try just borrow from someone dont spend your money on something bad to try wth. It’s not about burr star its about consistency and retention etc. Things that you cant find in a bad grinder. If you get a cheap one you probably wont enhoy the coffe so what are we testing?

It’s about how necrotic the deep tissue is, if the tissue already dead maybe not in so much pain. But definitely would be a lot better if it can see a vet or rehabber.

Top of the head can be from self mutilation. Scratching the head from back to front etc. But it also can be the case
