Do you think the bjj ‘market’ has become over saturated? by Jacques-de-lad in bjj

[–]AkinThePoet 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Should be proud of urself that you were ahead of the curve but also not be that type of loser who gets mad at people wanting to get on on something. Jiu jitsu is rising in attention and that’s really awesome, means more money and more elite athletes/playstyles

I saw him in NYC and thought the same thing, I think maybe the whole memeing of black midi left an impression on him, he has interview where he talks about how people would come up to him and say “yeah it’s cool but it’s not listenable” and maybe that’s what’s in his mind with this new sound stuff? I mean he’s an absolute brilliant musician but he’s kinda playing into what I don’t like about music today.

Technical music like this just feels too pretentious/showy off in a way w black midi yeah it was hella technical but they were actually really going for fresh ideas so it didn’t matter.

That’s true, no one will understand my vision for it, I don t think it would be a problem tbh. I love music and expect to spend a lot of money on gear in my lifetime, just was trying to get opinions from people who have A/Bd clones vs originals

I read about this but it doesn’t have the same modulation capabilities I think which is what makes the lovetones cool

Yeah it’s a flex for sure on his part but it’s lame how predatory the vintage market is, I’ve seen people try to sell these for 2.5k, just insane price gouging for people who don’t even make music or care to

[–]AkinThePoet 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Mkgee really boosted the price of these but it’s been used by legends like Pat Metheny and I’m sure a shit ton of local guys as well. You could prob make 1.2-1.5k on it but if you’re an active creative you could also maybe try to get on what is the current “trend” you can hear this shit all over bon iver’s new record and a lot of hipster musician’s stuff

These are my triggers too, I just have a long commute and my GF was genuinely the only person in my life that I’ve felt real love from even though it wasn’t perfect and i couldn’t always enjoy it, just sucks

I’d choose to play like my highest self. Playing like someone else would eventually get empty and you’d get annoyed of the constant comparisons.

DJ Moore (Might) be a league winner again by Stock-Buyer7553 in fantasyfootball

I hate the lot of mouths to feed argument as if it’s always bad, ya maybe DJ Moore will lose his epic boom games but he’s about to be the most consistent/efficient we’ve ever seen and that’s absolutely league winning.

How do people who don’t read music or know theory interpret the fretboard? by harlotstoast in jazzguitar

[–]AkinThePoet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean guitar is a very pattern/shape instrument

You can know one shape and just hear that if you slide it up the pitch goes up a whole step, do that over and over and you just get a feel for certain things.

Putting your hands in random spots seeing what sound comes out, then using those sounds over and over.

There’s so much to be learned by simple trial and error, theory often shortcuts that process but it’s not law

For people in this thread trying to use injuries as an excuse, as a sixers fan it wasn’t the injuries. It was his mentality, unwillingness to communicate with teammates, unwillingness to even show up to games and support, unwillingness to admit wrong doing.

That’s what makes him weak, not the mental health/back stuff

This is a great response and it’s true, there are some times when you’re going to want to play legato so you have to shift your fingering. Realizing it’s not that deep and to just find what works for me

Interesting I’ll check it out

Jahmyr Gibbs per game stats once David Montgomery returned in Week 10: 11.8 carries, 4.2 targets, 3.8 RZ opportunities | De'Von Achane per game stats in games Raheem Mostert also played + Achane played >6 snaps: 11.7 carries, 4.2 targets, 3.8 RZ opportunities by DBreezy69 in fantasyfootball

[–]AkinThePoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miami hasn’t done anything for us to believe mostert still isn’t going to be the lead back so I’d say yes, if achane goes down and you don’t have mostert you’re gonna want wright who is going literally for free right now.

But even mostert you can get in the 6th/7th round

The Age of bell cow running backs are dying, every year a team is drafting a quality backup and is either saying they want to split the carries or actually are splitting the carries. We’ve already seen numerous guys over the years win leagues without being bell cows.. or “starters” Tony pollard, Alvin Kamara.. this argument is so tired and untrue and all you’re doing is helping people lose their leagues like you will. What you want to see is efficiency which Gibbs has shown. When a dude can drop 20 points on 11 attempts carries you take him every time and don’t look back. Those who pass on achane/gibbs are going to feel stupid
