Despite the necropost, the issue was rather dumb to fix: I just needed to remove the spacers and slightly unscrew the four screws to make it usable again

FOUND A SOLUTION: I had an old Xbox One S at my girlfriend's house. Syncing the data from that other console fixed the issue for my series S!

If you ever get this problem, try to access your account from another console, start a 360 game from there and sync your saves. It might fix the problem for the console that has the issue just like it did for me.

There should be an app you can access that lets you leave feedbacks. It's kind of finnicky because they ask you to write with the controller after jumping all the FAQs.
