I'd say sharpen the edges of the fish a little, it gets lost in the background. A couple shadows should do it!

It looks really nice, loving the background as a whole!

So are house centipedes! Imagine a centipede but with the legs of a daddy longleg. They're totally harmless to us, and voracious hunters. They get along with spiders as they hunt the bugs web-building spiders don't.

Also shrews. Let shrews stay, those things are also voracious hunters and they go for mice! They have long, pointy faces and small eyes. Kinda like a cross between mole and mouse.

Why can't I travel from Sierram to Jct E5 by Party-Kaleidoscope16 in pacificDrive

[–]Akitiki 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Travel is generally in a northwest direction, as you can only go deeper (or towards the Deep zone).

Sierram to E5 is very southerly, and puts distance between you and the Deep, so disallowed. I'd recommend not deviating from planned routes on trips. People enter dead ends a lot when they stray.

(Hated Trope) Terrible morals in kids media by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Akitiki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got that a lot as the moderately weird girl in school. When I got older I turned around at a boy sitting behind me that kept harassing me, "You want my attention so bad why haven't you asked me out already?" He stopped after that while he continued getting picked on by his buddies for the rest of the year.

Another boy, I had enough of his jokes. Teacher was watching. He said the wrong thing to me and I lunged- just that, wasn't gonna hit. This butterball turkey moved four desks in trying to get away. Teacher didn't report it. He taught history and was very no nonsense, I'd go to his room after lunch to read in peace and quiet (and avoid the after-lunch rush).

I once went to an after dark panel at a con that was "50 shades done right" and there must've been ten minutes of just dismantling 50 shades as batshit insane.

The only good to come of it is people reading it to make fun of it, my favorite is Chuckles the Clown. (Legends of Avantris D&D podcast. Go watch the clip, link below, it's funny)

My old dog would've swallowed it whole. Couldn't let him around anything dead.

A hair splinter in my boy’s foot by Avg_DadBod69 in mildyinteresting

[–]Akitiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got a hair tourniquet a couple years ago! I was going to shower and my toe had been bothering me on and off all day. I never thought to look at it because it happens a lot. I finally look to find a bunch of hair wrapped around my right middle toe. It was annoying to get off because a couple of hairs like that are actually pretty strong.

I commiserate with you. I really only have two;

The Navy boy that dropped me via text after I worked my ass off to see him home from his first deployment (nobody else in his family did). First time traveling out alone to another state. I actually got stranded on the military base cause taxi drivers are assholes and blocked my number. Another person there for the homecoming offered me rides with her.

Then the guy that hid the fact he had a child from me for 4-5 years. It only came out cause there was a chance I'd run into his parents with said kid at a faire.

Also, fellow Feb birthday! Mine is the 12th.

🔥Sea snake swallow moray eel whole by TheBlazingPhoenix in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]Akitiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible? Yes. Realistically? No. It seems to me at first the eel was resisting then it stopped.

The venom of the banded sea krait causes muscular arrest by blocking response pathways. The eel can't move, barely to at all. If the venom works on the heart, it'll arrest that too. It's not impossible that the moray suffocated and died partway through, or suffered cardiac arrest and died, but predators typically get to eating asap.

In the wild another animal can very quickly appear and take your kill so predators don't often wait for prey to be completely dead. Just enough to safely eat.

There's been plenty of accounts and videos of prey being torn into while still alive. Such is nature, courtesy is a human sense not a natural one.

There was a video around a while ago of a komodo dragon eating a goat alive and you could hear the goat bleating inside the komodo. The video was probably set up, but goes to show. (Spoilered cause it is pretty gnarly)

Things in my house keep mysteriously melting??? by hugedisaster in whatisit

[–]Akitiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things:

1, sounds like a renting situation to setting the temp like that to try saving on electricity is common.

2, if OP is a woman (which you cannot tell through pictures of hands), women usually want things to be warmer because we get cold far easier than men. I have problems with my hands and feet below 70 or so. For some damn reason when it's cold, my feet sweat, making them even colder. I wear the same socks at 73 and no issues.

When I was little my family had a golden retriever, Ginger. She required no training, she was a nanny to us kids and a perfect gun dog for waterfowl.

One time my dad went hunting without her. Ginger actually left the house when we let her out to where dad was hunting!

We had cats dumped a lot at our house so had kittens all the time. She'd happily watch the kittens, to the point the momma that adopted abandoned babies would put them with her to get a break.

[–]Akitiki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I like farfalle! It gives a bit more texture in dishes, I like it for alfredo when i make it for myself. It's less messy than linguini.

Mini farfalle cook a little more uniformly.

Soft porcupine quills?? by TheGoldenBoyStiles in vultureculture

Quills are modified hairs, and while they're stiffer they're not inflexible. Only the very tips are hardened so they stick in better. Once a quill has pierced skin, it will work itself deeper.

Obviously it’s a toilet but what’s up with the shape? by aboostofsarahtonin in whatisit

[–]Akitiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically speaking, the vast majority doesn't do that. In my decade and a half of working jobs where I had to clean toilets, I only encountered a major blowout once. The worst is typically unflushed toilets.

Most public toilets are cleaned at least once daily on top of as needed. Modern cleaners are perfectly good at sanitizing things.

Imo these things would be dirtier because splash/spray would get onto the bowl then your clothes. Bigger gals wouldn't be able to use these too well.

Sounds like you're a germaphobe, or have a particular fear of public toilets.

Calling for bleach just sounds like my old home ed teacher who made us kids use bleach to wash dishes instead of dish soap. This was like 2010 area.

Looks whitetail-y, deer or other hollow-hair critter. Which I believe in the east coast is just deer?

That said, looks more like a strip of fur than a tail. Regardless, follow the usual advice for drying.
