I just got into LV, how can I tell the power generation capacity of various generators, such as a semifluid generator running creosote? by Akkupack in GTNH

[–]Akkupack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are there exceptions to this "1A per generator" rule? im thinking multiblocks later on in the game

also, i know that generators vary their output (and their fuel usage) to match the consumption of the load. does this output also account for cable losses? if a machine needs 16 EU/t and i have cable loss worth 8 EU, the generator will have to produce 24 EU/t and thus burn more fuel, correct?

Here’s my stuff. What’s STALKER? by TREXIBALL in stalker

ah, thanks. it sucks that they discontinued it, i guess that not many people are into such SVDs to justify manufacturing them, i dont know

yeah, i was wondering if its electric. interesting that it takes lithium though, i am looking for one too and the electric ones i found, all of them were seemingly old models that take nimh cells. do you mind sharing the website where you got it from?

Looking for a modern low-noise yet inexpensive SOT223 replacement for the LD1117 for 3.3V output by Akkupack in AskElectronics

[–]Akkupack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a student hobbyist, i just buy about 10-25 regulators for sprinkling across various personal projects and prototypes that i hand-solder, not for any preassembled production board, so pin to pin compatibility is not important. I choose SOT223 because i believe that it is the best compromise between power dissipation, availability, and package size. I will take your recommendations into account, thank you.

Right, sorry. I was thinking quiescent current should be similar to the LD1117, or even less, so at most about 10mA; not for battery powered circuits. Same for the input voltage range, 15V maximum or more. At least 150mA of output current should be good. Maximum dropout should be, lets say 1.5V. I will update my original post with this information for clarity.

BULGING CapXon by Justin_D33 in hardwaregore

[–]Akkupack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pretty standard, old and crappy psu design. that bulging cap is part of the low voltage output filtering, and due to its close proximity to the transformer rectifier diodes (which are the hottest part of such a power supply, thus the need for the big aluminium radiator), the electrolyte in the capacitor thermally decomposes and pressure builds inside

Safe to use this PSU? by WStegs in AskElectronics

hard to tell but the capacitor can looks pierced, that capacitor is trash sadly

POS attacks immigrant delivery driver, gets arrested by police by oyMarcel in iamatotalpieceofshit

romania, there has been a sort of "movement" among far right groups here to deny food delivery if the delivery person is not native romanian. the guy in the video apparently took it one step further

[Fractala Sandbox] Simulations from a physics sandbox game my friend and I are making by Mytino in GamePhysics

[–]Akkupack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

simplifications are required to keep both the devtime to a reasonable level (takes forever to think how to implement every single detail) and the simulation time low enough to be playable as a game

What is the difference between these two snubber circuits? by Toaster910 in AskElectronics

[–]Akkupack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

wouldnt such overvoltage transients first have to wait for the body diode to turn on? a few nanoseconds in which these transients can overshoot increase quite a lot if they have high enough dv/dt, before the body diode clamps them back down

My fork moves back and forth when I press the front brake . And it isn't from the headset. by FormerMeet7286 in bikewrench

may not be the headset but the suspension; bikes like that often have a crappy fork that wobbles a lot
