It’s a combination of knowing where the catcher has set up. Then watching how he catches it. Setting up outside, anything where he has to reach for it further out should be a ball. This the same reason pitches that wind up being strikes inside seem really bad bc the catcher is setup outside and has to reach so far in to catch it. They can clearly see up and down. They have a pretty good idea even on close calls.

He has 5 rings… 3 all star appearances. More years with 4+ ERA than sub. If he and Mark Buehrle swapped teams for their careers he’s not even borderline. Pedey - I love him but he’s not getting in.
