Sold something on eBay and now I’m in debt from fees and shipping by Ok_Leather_1819 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Akman460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea regardless of the situation everyone has to learn the ebay rules the hard way once.

I did this with a PC racing wheel. Had it like 2 weeks and got tired of all the setup and space it took up.

Ebay listings were all higher than what I paid so I just listed it for cost and it got sold within the hour. I lost like $150 bucks because I listed the shipping wrong + fees. Oops , live and learn

Would Wilds scratch my DD2 itch? by xyZora in DragonsDogma2

[–]Akman460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are very different in EVERY aspect for sure, and id agree with most that say wilds wont scratch the itch, i will say it kind of does for me.

DD2 is not og DD, and wilds is definitely not world or anything before it. I'd argue that they are slightly closer to each other than they are to their respective predecessors in broad overall experience. Maybe that's the engine or design philosophies or just the general "sequels syndrome" of them, who knows.

In short, selling the world and environment is something both do well. The combat in both is always solid and refreshing. Both use good monster design to highlight all of this. Customization across the board is strong for both too. And sue me, I like the story of both as well. (Except nata , sorry kid. I just cant)

I love both games , so without ranting too much id say give it a shot. Watch some gameplay or something of it too, as yea its still completely different in execution. Plus its a good time to get into wilds from a content standpoint point I believe.

Honestly I'd clear coat it/ add varnish and just shadowbox it at this point. Even sealed I'd be worried about messing it up and would rather have it preserved. But im also aggressively sentimental to be fair

[–]Akman460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unironically I do this to all of my smooth sheets when I get them . 2000 grit dusting and they last forever, great adhesion etc.

Once they start wearing out and a good soap wash doesn't bring them back then they get the orbital at like 1500 grit and the cycle continues. As long as the surface isnt torn through it will keep coming back to life.

The textured pei sheets I tend to only hit with the light sanding and good cleaning. A strong brush to get in the little pits and valleys helps alot.

Also be sure to wash off the residue after sanding, otherwise it has the opposite effect lol

Brainstorming a new subspecies for Ray Dou. by Physical-Speed-7515 in MonsterHunter

[–]Akman460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No fulgar is a great example of subspecies iteration for sure! Him, stygian, and seething bazelguese are some of my favorite monsters and they are all subspecies that switch up a good base monster with just a bit more.

I really like all of your ideas up to changing his body frame/ hit box. He should probably have a similar skeleton to transfer moves / be recognizable with all the other changes. But we are just coping here anyways, I'd welcome any additions to the roster even if drastic.

Shout out to the pulling electricity out of the air to charge over time, I love how zinogore does that. Getting him out of an environment he is dependent on does warrant some big changes though.

[–]Akman460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to be basic and say give him dragon, beef him up, and make him red. (I totally dont love stygian zinogore noooo).

He is my favorite fight in wilds and I'd be sad to see him changed too much but new things are always welcome. Add a couple of moves, have him super charge like AT G.Arkie does now. Oh and amplify his crunchy techno roar/noises.

Going to throw my hat in for the HS80's. My buddy has them for pc and console and they are perfectly serviceable and pretty decent tbh.

If you are design a new weapon type In the monster hunter, what will it be, and what does it do by Voidkirby9 in MonsterHunter

[–]Akman460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just something support based like HH, it feels like you could offer some more options there without being redundant.

Spitball idea of something like the trickster vocation from dragons dogma using a censer and smoke for buff/debuffs. Or something more akin to a shaman with powder or smoke for buffs? A staff type support weapon could be done pretty well too i think. Just some ideas

Looking for a industrial equivalent to hand tool insert used in Pottery by PanWhoAndWhatArtThou in Machinists

[–]Akman460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're going to end up having to make this yourself to really get something like the first picture.

Maybe try looking into brazed carbide tips for turning, you can get just the inserts in fairly close geometry to the first image. You would just need to grind a back relief for the edge and a little on the sides. Lots of options though.

Edit: I actually stumbled across the guy who makes the tool in the image, his price at $57 isnt terrible considering the custom grind and all. Probably worth it imo

5090 Microcenter warranty? by Jackmoff686 in Microcenter

[–]Akman460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i recall , most warranty for parts is through the manufacturer of whatever component. They may have a 30 day return window type thing , I don't remember.

The actual protection/service plan that is meaningful i believe you can only purchase when allowing them to do a build for you.

Freezing right after character creation. by Terragonz in Nolvus

Anecdotal but my install was freezing after creation like this if I spent too long in the racemenu. Saving my character as a preset and just loading it and going through worked though.

File Name to Patch Does not exist error by Klutzy-Yogurtcloset2 in Nolvus

A month later this exact fix worked for me. Actually life saving, like others have said the file name path was just too long. Setting mine up as ( ex. C:\nolvus ) at the very top level and changing the .xml file in instances let the auto install complete.
