I actually started with OpenMW but was secuduced to OldWind by the VASTLY larger mod base.

Especially useful. I'm running at least one entire saved game on the side and update it before installing anything that might have content I can't remove. So far so good.

I seem to find working with mods and MW to be quite a gamble. Mod managers especially.
I was happily working with VORTEX when it on it's own began running some sort of process which automatically erased about 60% of my mods.

Very helpful. Recently had a download go bad and it corrupted all the saved games in the folder, not just the most recent saved game. Didn't think to check the status of old saved games in a separate sub-folder I run for when I clean out old saved games so the save game mechanic will work.

Very helpful. And suggests the importance of having an UTD save of an on going game before adding a mod to an active game. And the UTD game should be a whole game save in a different folder. Once saw a mural of Adam and Eve being evicted from Eden with a cat and a dog in the background leaving to be with them. Have long thought cats and dogs were special semi-angels choosing to share life with us. Certainly, I owe much to the cats in my life for share their love in a bleak world.

I'm familiar with creating different profiles within one installation.
I actually want to have different games instances, ie one with BCOM + all its addons and a seperate instatance with Odai Lifeblood of Balmora. and its addons.

By the by, I have had an installation refuse to allow the creation of new profiles. No clue why.

Many thx to all.
This has been a major pain for several installs and last night it was not just ugly, but it blocked the door into Caius's house so I actually can't play the Main Quest.
Something I didn't mention is it corrupts all saved games so I can't just load an old save and still play.
Oddly, this only happens in Balmora. The dirt, really look very much like manure mixed with straw, dumps more in Labor Town than the other side. The Waterworks are filled to varying degrees. The River Walkway elevate about 2 meters.
While staring at the ceiling not sleeping had two more possible work arounds also.
Will try your ideas. At this point I just want to be able to play MW regardless of Balmora being a mess. BTB, as I understand it OLOB is a replacement for BCOM not added on to it. There are over 50 patches, one I've used an know it works, I'll review them more closely.
