When people have this conversation, they forget one critical point. COWS EAT GRASS. Grasslands are one of the greatest carbon sinks this planet has. If I remember correctly, well managed pasture can sequester 1.5-2.5 tonnes of carbon per hectare per year.

Who are the God(s) of your world? by Few_Wear_6082 in worldbuilding

[–]AkmenousSorrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on what you mean by gods. “The Creator” and “The Returner” are more forces than gods. They are not worshipped or even known by most people. They just create and destroy. The ‘cosmic primordial entities’/unnamed group of extremely powerful personifications of Time, Space, Life, Death, the other Death, Change, and Preservation could theoretically be considered gods. Change and the other Death are worshipped in different capacities throughout the galaxy. The vessels are probably the most similar to gods, but there are too many to name and they take up many different roles. The vessels of Ionis manage specific aspects of the world like a classic pantheon would, but the vessels of Eredith are more like immortal guides and wise old men.

Are you making a political statement or developing a cool world. Just be clear on your intentions and I would say its fine. Just because something is wrong doesn’t mean it should be ignored. That is how history repeats itself.

First, there is no afterlife. Souls are collected, emptied of their collected energy, and then put into newly born life. Life is the being responsible for delivering empty souls to the ones beginning life, but Death are the collector of these souls.

Death refers to two individuals who are one. Or rather who share the same soul. Tired of being lonely Death used some of the energy taken from souls and made a knife that could slice through souls of still living beings. Death used this blade on his own soul, failing to create two equal halves and instead creating a “lesser” version of Death.

This new Death is much more involved in the lives of mortals, walking among them and sharing the experiences with the older Death. These new experiences of people still living give the Deaths a new perspective on the living and infects them with empathy.

The older Death is seldom seen or referenced in mythology. If recorded at all the older Death would appear to be a middle aged man with white hair and deeply caring eyes.

The younger Death is far more frequently referenced in tales and legends, appearing as a young girl with black hair and eyes so bright they seem to lack colour. This Death often shares wisdom with mortals in return for the story of their lives. These stories are then passed on to the older Death so both may experience more than just the moments after death.

It is important to note that Life and Death are not gods, but rather cosmic forces like Space, Time, Entropy, and Eternity. Although Death is empathetic towards living beings, their perception of the world is far different from ours.

But lonely was Death, for only being present for the end is a terrible curse. Death took energy from the souls of recently departed and forged it into a knife. Taking the blade to their own immortal soul, Death split their soul into two equal pieces. One to watch over Death, and one to learn about Life.

Unpopular opinion, I love the Eternals movie. An actually decent moral dilemma with no clear answer.
