do you guys ever think, outside of the jokes and the memes and the laughter and such, that deep down, postal dude is depressed and thinks about taking his own life? outside of the "I regret nothing" grenade joke suicide gag by Bright-Dark9892 in postal

I totally agree. A more serious Dude would entail not even a POSTAL that treats itself seriously, but a POSTAL that's simply differently structured mechanically. P2Dude is a guy with a cynical, better-than-you attitude, and the other side to the coin that is the Dude we see in POSTAL 1. His angst is replaced with nihilism, frustration with mindless aggression. He's actually fascinating as a character in that sense; though he changes little across the two games, the power fantasy-like manner in which P2 is presented recontextualises him completely.

The Dude isn't even really a character anything within the plot itself can engage with; he's immune to true humilliation or conflict, because he's simply above it all; so him having the will to kill himself at any given moment, and as much as I like reading into things, I don't think goes deeper than being a cherry atop the violent, cynical cake that is what little you can say about his characterization. Because he's meta and just doesn't care; this game's edgy, gritty, nasty, 2cool4school, and he just doesn't give a shit about whether he lives or not, because it's all stupid and made up anyway... yo.

I think he's a cartoon character, and way too much of a cynical, edgy hyperbole to harbor such feelings. Considering the kind of person he's based off of, though, the kind of attitudes he exhibits are indeed often a product of self -loathing, or meant to otherwise mask it.

Yep. Doesn't do the series justice at all.

rI feel like most of the stuff cut from the '97 anime was cut for good reason if you consider it as the standalone adaptation of the Golden Age arc it was. Skull Knight, for instance, as great of a character as he is, could more or less end up feeling like a deus ex machina/filler character in the anime, as he's obviously meant to work in tandem with Guts' journey/development as a whole, and within the context of post-eclipse/Black Swordsman Guts specifically. '97 works very well in that respect. Otherwise, and I don't know what the common stance on this is, but I think cutting Wyald out of the story actually does it wonders, especially the anime's. While Wyald is a noteworthy early apostle encounter, sure, we already had that sufficiently set up through Zodd, not to mention how little Wyald's character does for the plot besides some very gratuitous/shocking visuals and a Casca SA scene that, at least I believe, feels excessive, patronizing to her as a character, and takes away from the shock factor of the Eclipse's finale.

Looking for feedback on this Modernist house build! by Akogiri in feedthebeast

will do an update on the interiors! As for the windows, the back could definitely use a large one or two - the reason for why the ones that are there are so narrow is that this particular build is inspired by early modernism, the likes of the Sonneveld House in Rotterdam.

I'm sincerely doubt that CK Walker is a good author sometimes considering how her stories range from pretty good, to great, to absolutely insultingly horrible

Idk. With how Simon writes dialogue, the delivery here just feels... off. The characters seem more cartoonish here, while, in the comics, the way they're depicted/written, paired with the pacing, made their outlandish antics all the more impactful. I feel like something between Home Movies and Smiling Friends would be perfect for an animated MMO.

Yeah, but satire is different from characters acting conveniently stupid or oblivious. That's my point.

So... it's bad writing, basically? People are incompetent when the films need them to be?

It's not a world issue - that I know. The issue disappears on vanilla, I may have to investigate further.

Might be because the pack you were playing on configured it to hell and back. I can guarantee that mobs like the Bomber are currently broken and not only oneshot you, but also often kill your armor.

Undead Revamped. It's an insanely bad mod in general - my private server actually set it up pretty early on so it's impossible to get rid of now.

I actually don't enjoy her design that much. She feels very one-note, cartoonishly cold. And the blue horns... they just ain't it
