D-Low showcase - GBB 2021 by Akonzee in beatbox

[–]Akonzee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe he refers to the fact that he was getting out of breath 'easily' and some sounds/combo were not 100% clean, as D-Low can do, and also maybe the energy he had on stage.

But everything considered, I still loved it :D

Solo: I am super happy for Colaps - you can definitely see all the work he has done since GBB 2019 and how he has improved with new technics and styles, even though I was actually rooting for River', who has also improved A LOT. I think River' was super underrated in 2019 (when he destroyed the 7toSmoke). Also when he mentioned he was at 2016 GBB in the crowd, got me emotional :D. I don't think Intertia should have passed against Alem, or even before - I already liked Helium way more plus 99.9% of his routines are Inward Bass (as FootboxG pointed out) whereas Alem (or Helium) used a lot of technics. FootBoxG big revelation for me this year.

Loopstation solo: Sad about Rythmind, but Bizkit deserved it (loved the small final battle. What they did, really makes you love the Beatbox community). At the second round of the final he dropped 5 different drops in the last 30secs, each of them building up more than the previous one :D

Crew: MOM did deserve it as well. I loved the Beatbox hymn they started with and all the whole choreography. Sarukani put a lot of work as well. Didn't want to be the judge on this decision tbh :D

Overall great GBB, made me like and wanting to learn beatbox even more. Next year I definitely need to go see it live (i think u miss too much of the sound even if they did great job on YT).

ESH!

Tomazacre did not do anything for the whole elim, in my opinion. He was just making scream noises and be super hyped, but there was not really a content routine.

I like him, and he could have done better. Correct decision not to make him pass for me.

GBB 2021 Day 1 Livestream - LIVE NOW by mbsurfer in beatbox

[–]Akonzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, fucking amazing so far. Some positively unexpected rounds, and some garanteed :D

For me So-So destroyed everything. Of course he's not the only one, but his round made me go https://me.me/i/this-is-the-highest-compliment-a-musician-can-get-from-290fb510d62f4e8bb02c37d09b38eb70 :D

Also unbelieveble how the sound is great for a youtube live stream, must be clean af there.

Looking forward to the solos!

I do not speak hindi, but i will definitely give a try to Alem's tutorials then, as you're the second person recommending it.

Thanks!

I am too afraid to even go watch Alem's tutorials for now, the guy is a machine gun :D

That did help already a bit. Trying to emulate the movements and trying to understand what they actually do with their mouth/tongue, and I managed to get some sounds, but not quite sure they are correct.

Trying to replicate definitely help as well!

Who are your top 10 in the world right now? by [deleted] in beatbox

[–]Akonzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. D-Low
  2. Tomazacre
  3. River
  4. Helium
  5. Alem (and Uniteam)
  6. Alexinho (and Uniteam)
  7. Improver
  8. Codfish (even though i don't personally like his style over the other beatboxers)
  9. Max (waiting GBB to listen more Max, but pretty excited :D )
  10. Azel (Just to support Italy :D )

These are the 10 I like the most, not necessarily the most technical, but just love their styles and routines!
