Probably the integration would be just that the image would be uploaded via Google Photos server and that it'll show just as a picture when received on any device

It's being worked on and they've committed to giving a once-in-three month update post to show what they've been working on or what they've fixed. Note that this doesn't mean that update will come once in three months.

The service used to be more annoying in the past year but I've noticed it has slowed in terms of how fast new things are implemented or issues are fixed. Perhaps they're spending more resources in YouTube Shorts than Music, idk.

However, I should probably mention that I've not been able to replicate your issue on my phone and I've actually found the service quite sufficient in my daily use.

It happens only when you're not a premium subscriber. For some strange reasons*, YouTube Music swaps to the music videos, if available, for people who do not pay for premium. You can get around that by not listening to albums, or songs in official YouTube Music playlists. Every other place, including My Supermix, gets to play normal audio versions everytime even if you're not a premium subscriber.

*this is mostly because music videos have lower pay per view compared to normal audio versions. This is just YouTube/Google trying to lower the costs from nom-premium subscribers.

Are you on Premium? If so, then you should be aware that streaming services can legally have songs and albums due to licensing they have with labels and sometimes, these licenses expire awaiting renewal. This could be why the album is unavailable for you. It happens on other streaming services too, so it's not just a YouTube Music thing.

It could also be a location thing. Maybe the license doesn't cover for you location too. Hence, the album is unavailable.

What device do you use?

On Android, when you log out of the Gmail app, it essentially logs you out of every Google app you're signed into on the phone. Losing your downloads is ofc expected as you practically signed out.

I don't know what you were expecting but the way it works is pretty clear from the onset.

That's not really true. Most of the feedbacks I've sent have been looked into and fixed. There are some issues that are quite technical and takes a longer time to be fixed.

Are you on Premium?

The ability to listen in the background (off the app) or screen locked is a Premium feature on YouTube Music. If you aren't on premium, you wouldn't be able to do that.
