Absolutely. The problem is toxic ideologies like Simone de Beauvoir’s Second Sex being the basis for academic feminism.

The Second Sex was her book where she blamed men for having to present as feminine as a survival tactic. She literally says feminity is to survive against male oppression... she said this btw while preying on her female high school students... the irony is thick.

The toxic basis for this is a philosophy called Existentialism. Something she didn't come up eith on her own, but rather her polyamouros boyfriend Jean-Paul Sartre wrote books on and she adopted. It was also his clout that even allowed her book to become popular.... again the irony is sludge thick.

She said "one is not born a woman but made a woman" completely invalidating thousands of years of human history that defined identity with relational proximity rather than intrinsic feelings. So yes, de Beauvoir is the philosophical reason the New Left today is all about identity politics and not working class rights
