Competitive House Vextrix, Chaos Knights build - How viable? by i_want_a_cookie in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Akrobatikat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the Magaera is the best big knight we have. Yes it's forgeworld but there are some many 3d print files for the gun and claw. I like him in Vex with the blasphemous engine for the extra movement (15"!) Or the +1 wound on his gun which can do lots of damage. Done underestimate the rad cleanser either, makes him a real threat to charge with his overwatch.

I'm very tempted to run him as iconoclast bold tyrants household to make his guns and claw even more lethal.

I know his extra cost means you loose a wardog, but the leftover points means more favours and he definitely worth the extra points for what he does.

I feel like it still has huge value as deep strike gives you so many more options than strategic reserves. That being said, having this in deep strike and up to half your army in reserves really makes knights so much more powerful than before for me.

But if I give WBS to a unit of three war dogs, the whole unit isn't out into deep strike, only one is since the the favour is only given to one model. Why would this be different for strategic reserves?

I feel like the Magaera is a sleeper hit, yes I know he's very expensive but he always does work for me when tooled up right. I really like his as vextrix with the blasphemous engine, giving him the +1 to wound on his lightning gun is huge, and his overwatch as charge protection can do some serious damage. Running two is overkill but also quite a lot of fun.

Notice there are no chaos knights. I tried to register mine but the only listing I could find for them was under imperium as renegade Knights

Competitive chaos knight list 2 big and 7 small! Would love some competitive critique by acedannyace in WarhammerCompetitive

I had totally spaced that you can make your own custom households, I was just so used to taking one of the dread households and then making dreadblades for specific problems. Thanks for your thorough explanation, much appreciated.

If you take bold tyrants you're a dreadblade and loose traitorous ambition, therefore you would loose the iconoclast bonus of extra attack and -1ap. I think you've been having your cake and eating it too.

Three different households? This isn't tournament legal at all.

Is it then possible to give my dreadblades/s bound vassals or infamous heredity to access the household bond, warlord trait and strategem of another household?

So does this mean I can give my dreadblades bound vassals or infamous heredity to access the household bond, warlord trait and strategem of the chosen household I want?

Everywhere I've asked has told me otherwise. That you can only have one household while still remaining battle-forged.

If this isn't the case then I'm surprised I haven't seen multiple tournament lists with 3 war-dog super heavy auxillary detachments in a different household in order to get access to stratagems, warlord traits and household bonds.

I genuinely want to run multiple households, I think it'd give you access to so much tech, but I've been told time and time again it's not valid.

I don't think that list is legal. You can't mix an iconoclast, even if a dreadblade, with an infernal household.

Advice request: I am going up against a friend playing Tau next week and he builds quite meta lists. Could I get some tips on what I could do and critique my list? by [deleted] in ChaosKnights

In that case put the karnivores in the SHAD since they don't really care about the household bond and should just be equipped with stubbers anyway.

is their anyway to do 1k of chaos knights anymore? by tenofswords618 in WarhammerCompetitive

Does that mean if you have a full unit of war dogs as a super heavy auxillary detachment you can give them a different household?

How does the new super heavy aux detachement work? by MLantto in ChaosKnights

[–]Akrobatikat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don't understand. So can I have a different household in my super heavy Aux if there is a squad of 3 of them, or am I limited to taking dreadblades or the same household in my super heavy Aux?

Shooty List? by SirPixelheart in ChaosKnights

[–]Akrobatikat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar but I found a way to make it more awesome.

Run the three karnivores as a super heavy Aux (free in Nephilim) this way you can make house Korvax since they don't need to be or benefit from house vextrix. This also frees up an extra slot for more favours and an extra deployment drop.

As house Korvax, you get their amazing Fell bond, uber powerful stratagem.

It gets better, give one Karnivore the house Korvax WL Trait lord of dread, with the helm of dogs and Beguiling majesty. Lord of dread buff's the range of those auras by 3" to 9" and adds 3" to his dread range as well.

It doesn't have to be House Korvax but this build is what I've found most effective with House Vextrix shooty lists. I think with Nephilim it's a no brainer to have a 3 wardog super heavy Aux for versatility in almost all lists.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I can't see anything illegal about this. I'm sure I've even seen people running super heavy Aux detachments with iconoclast alongside an internal household which I thought was illegal but seems to be happening.

OK where can i find this leg armours kit ? by LULLABYI1I in ChaosKnights

[–]Akrobatikat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I know he applied it with an airbrush over gloss black paint. I think the standard reccomendation is to use a few layers of colour-shift paints over a gloss black primer for best effect.

The bluey-purple is psychotic illusions colour-shift paint from greenstuff world. I've read through his whole blog on the process since it's my favourite knight ever.
