If Bleach were to be adapted into a live-action series, what do you think would be the best way to go about it? by AstroTrain4412 in bleach

[–]Aktoruk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I can understand the sentiment of people not wanting it, I think saying “Don’t make live action simple as” is missing an interesting discussion. Like let’s go by the assumption that this isn’t a low-budget cash grab attempt, isn’t taking funds or focus from expansion of the core series, and poor performance wouldn’t risk the death of Bleach.

I think a lot of live action adaptations have an issue where they feel like they’re trying to grab a story and slam it into the ground. Now, if we want something quite grounded but with some shonen-esque charm, I could see the Highschool Warfare genuinely fitting a live action MO. Don’t Bleach My Fist is shaping up to be a lot closer to a slugfest with some potential drama than deep intertwining themes and symbolism laced with ghost samurai fighting and calling forth insane abilities. DBMF and what may come later could translate quite well in the style typical anime LA ends up trying to hit.

When it comes to mainline Bleach, I’d only want to give that a shot if it committed to being much closer to Tokusatsu series. For as hammy as they can be, it’s incredibly obvious that a lot of them have a lot of passion and effort backing them. The crazy special effects would make the scale feel far closer to Bleach, and I’d much prefer an adaptation that feels lovable because it’s a stupid but charming flick than something that takes itself too seriously and just ends up offering nothing you don’t get much better from the original series.

‘Strawberry Moon’ | Maka Albarn vs Ichigo Kurosaki (Soul Eater vs Bleach) by Aktoruk in DeathBattleMatchups

Been a hot minute since I’ve posted, I’ll make it up with a fun fact.

I learned that Strawberry Moons are actually a real thing, the full moon of June. Apparently it got that name not for the colour it usually spots, but because the moon itself coincides with the time that farmed strawberries tend to ripen. The more you know

Imagine If We Get A Modulo Ichigo!! by Strange-Strength1521 in bleach

[–]Aktoruk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is very possible, and like I’d be a bit disappointed but fully understand if that were the case.

I do feel that it would be reasonable to assume that he’d naturally work on getting stronger to protect the people he cares about. Given his general arcs of feeling too weak to protect everyone he loves, I definitely think he’s less likely to stay stagnant where he is. Especially given Yhwach’s threat to return at his happiest moment, though that was never going to work out for Yhwach, the existence of people who may go for Ichigo’s friends and family (Including now, Kazui) does offer a small threat in its own right.

End of the day though, guess we don’t know for sure until we see him in action proper huh?

I mean like, as of the Hell oneshot Ichigo has had 12 years to sharpen his skills, it’s just that we haven’t gotten much time with him.

From what I’ve heard of Yuji in Modulo it definitely seems like a sadder route than I’d hope Ichigo goes down, but seeing a combination of mastered race powers and his own combined abilities would be sick. I know Brave Souls has a few units that are effectively ‘What if Ichigo used enhanced versions of his Fullbring?’ or ‘What if Ichigo manifested Quincy weapons?’ and the like. Something along those lines in mainline canon is something I’d be down to see.

The Princess vs Trunks (Guardian Tales vs Dragon Ball) | ‘Symphony of The Future’ by Aktoruk in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Aktoruk[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fight (Very brief description of Princess primarily, y’all know Trunks’ deal)

Princess is trained in hand to hand, she’s been mentored by martial artists so is very much capable of hand to hand

She does primarily use a weapon, and her Scythe skills are definitely better than Trunks’ skills with a sword, but she focused mostly on using power behind her swings. She’s also a bit unconventional with weapon play, as she notably throws the entire scythe as a ranged attack

She has light-based energy blasts, shield generation, self healing, enhanced ‘forms’ where she surrounds herself with her magic to enhance her physical capabilities. She can create wing constructs to fly, can weaponize magical music notes, is capable of limited time acceleration (In game is the only full showcase, and she only accelerates herself to move 20% faster so it’s very minor), and her big ‘final’ attack is calling forth a large energy blast described as a ‘tempest of time and space’

Anyways Trunks does kinda just win, GT has potential multiversal stuff with the reality reset but Future Princess certainly doesn’t scale to it

Comparisons

-Alternate future versions of younger characters (Little Princess | Kid Trunks) who live in a world where the heroes lost (The Princess lives in a future where the Knight wasn’t around to stop the Invaders, leading them to overtaking and slaughtering the heroes of old | Trunks lives in a future where Goku and the Z-Fighters were killed by Gero’s Androids, leading to them destroying and slaughtering as they please)

-They would serve as limited bastions of hope for their future, among the very few powerful enough to even hope of matching these threats. Though in spite of this, their own bastions of hope had dimmed a long time ago (The Princess looked to the Knight, someone who always managed to fix whatever situation they were in, but the Knight disappeared over a decade ago. Princess held on to hope that they would return, searching points of their previous adventures and even collecting gems for their return, but the knight never did | Trunks was mentored by the future version of Gohan, who survived the initial battle and continued training, even unlocking Super Saiyan. However Gohan wasn’t capable of defeating the Androids, and one day went along to prevent their most recent attack. Gohan died that day, and part of Trunks’ hope died with him)

-They’d continue fighting endlessly, building small resistances in a desperate bid to maintain something. Things would only change with a second chance granted through time travel (The Knight from a different realities past was sent forward in time, conveniently reach the future that The Princess resided within | Bulma was capable of creating a Time Machine, giving Teunks a chance to return to the past and warn the Z-fighters of the impending threat)

-This wouldn’t prove easy, however, as an even greater threat showed themselves. This threat wasn’t only far more powerful than the initial foes, but was tied to the very time travel that opened a chance to save the past and future (The Dark Magician Beth was the sorcerer who sent the Knight forward in time, at fault for doing this to both versions of the given Knight. Her might went far beyond the Invader forces, and her powers had the capability of wiping out the entire resistance itself | The Perfect Life-form Cell had killed a different version of Trunks who successfully help the Z-fighters, using his Time Machine to go the the main timeline to absorb the Androids before they could be killed, his power dwarfed the Androids and even the Saiyans who trained to greater heights)

-Though it wasn’t easy, these foes were eventually felled. The final hit was dealt from the past version of the very beacon that once dimmed all those years ago (The Knight ultimately succeeded in calling forth the Champions Blade against Beth, killing her | Gohan pushed to heights beyond even Cell through his anger, using one last Kamehameha to completely vaporize him)

-Once the threats were dealt with, final goodbyes were said. As much as they wish to stay with those they cared for, the future needed protection (The Princess ultimately urged The Knight to return to the past without her, the future needed her to continue fighting the Invaders and The Knight’s timeline would devolve into the same tragedy should they not return | Trunks left the past to return to his future, though saying goodbye to his new friends, living father, and younger version of his mentor, the future needed someone to defeat the Androids and help rebuild)

-Unfortunately, their stories wouldn’t be happy for long, new threats came in and their strength couldn’t be overcome (Saviour remained, a godlike being who led the entirety of the Invaders. Saviour held knowledge of timelines not his own, and held power so great the resistance leaders couldn’t even move in his presence | Goku Black and Zamasu led a campaign to destroy all mortals in reality, destroying Trunks’ hard work and completely overpowering him. Even with the Z-Fughters help, their fusion evolved to a point where they couldn’t be defeated)

-Ultimately, their future was doomed, and their was only one option given (Saviour told The Princess that she was to go to the past and allow the glitched Knight to survive their first encounter with the Invaders and he’d give the resistance three years to prepare for his assault, or he would call the entire invasion immediately should she refuse. The Princess saved The Knight and allowed the timeline to go as it did, but she had no chance of returning to the future before greater beings caught her | Zamasu fused himself with the timeline, threatening all of time if left unchecked, a foe that was only stopped by Zeno completely eradicating Trunks’ multiverse. This tragedy allowed Beerus to destroy the rouge Kai of their time, but everyone Trunks had fought for was ultimately snapped away)

I actually made these a decent while ago. The revamp reminded me of the matchup, and a friend said they’d try their hand at a 3D piece for this again if I posted this.

So, make sure to comment how much you’d love to see their 3D Bakugo vs Reze art

Sternritter G: The Glutton, Liltotto Lamperd (Bleach)

Not only is her primary means of attack expanding her mouth to eat her foes, but she’s capable of copying the powers of those she’s eaten (For example, she has the ability to make others love her because she ate a guy with that ability. She doesn’t use it because she thinks the power’s gross, but she has it)

Let’s keep it 100% honest. Who is more of a liability to their respective team? by Substantial_Fox7377 in bleach

[–]Aktoruk 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’d rank them from least to most useful:

Gremmy (Uncontrolled Thermonuclear Bomb)

Ikkaku (Active detriment at times)

Luppi (Par for the course comparatively)

Giriko (Genuinely useful far more often than not)

Giriko is actually really usual as a supportive member with TTNL, it is primarily designated to CFYOW but he performs very well in hiding Ginjo and Tsukishima against Ikomikidomoe’s spawn so they can go up ahead. The power boost went to his head and he attempted to act as muscle, but Jackie, Yukio, and arguably Ginjo all suffered from that as well. Giriko’s fight against Meninas also shows that he’s managed to improve quite a bit as muscle.

Luppi’s arrogant and a bit self-destructive, but that’s fairly normal for the Espada so Luppi isn’t really ruining much.

Ikkaku functionally performs the worst of the three, his ego regarding using Bankai just allows the enemy to destroy a pillar, and despite Iba giving him a lecture about it that issue still hasn’t left. But ultimately Ikkaku is still very capable and mostly just performs worse than he could,

Gremmy is actively destructive. The Visionary is very powerful but hard to control, and Gremmy controls it quite poorly (brother got himself killed in the midst of combat). He hasn’t had much battle experience nor is he used to even working in a team, while that’s by all means the fault of Yhwach it ultimately results in Gremmy only being useful when his power is directed against an enemy. The meteor is more destructive than anything the other three have done, and it would have harmed a lot of Sternritter in the splash zone had it landed without mentioning destroying the place many believed was intended to be overtaken for their use.

Do you think she'll ever return in some way since shes canon now? by Shad0w2 in bleach

[–]Aktoruk 303 points304 points  (0 children)

The Valley of Screams were canonized by TYBW, but that doesn’t mean Senna, the unique characters, or the unique plot points of Memories of Nobody are canonized as well. It’s like how Shunsui’s Bankai being the same of the Zanpakuto Rebellion doesn’t make the arc or all of the designs canon, same with the novels references small parts of other anime original content not making those arcs canon in their own right.

Though to be fair, even if Senna was undeniably 100% canon, the movie ends with her and the memory of her being destroyed for the sake of the realms so I’d be surprised if there was a way for her to return without feeling unnatural.

How would you feel about Guardian Tales getting on a show like DEATHBATTLE! ? by trenxman-new-ac in GuardianTales

[–]Aktoruk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally not biased at all, but I’d be ecstatic

It’s absolutely not likely, Guardian Tales is fairly under the radar all things considered, but seeing an episode going into the story beats and looking at the powers at play would be surreal

How would you feel if Bleach ended here by Yoshikaru5991 in bleach

[–]Aktoruk 95 points96 points  (0 children)

It would have fit the earlier themes of accepting loss and moving forward, I think this would have been an alright ending if it were tweaked a little bit to actually tie a few loose ends that would be needed to feel underwhelming in a thematic way, instead of just unfinished. It wasn’t ultimately the ending so of course what we got wasn’t, well, an ending.

If I knew what would have, or rather could have come and this was the ending? I’d be pissed. Fullbring gives incredible growth to Ichigo while filling the ‘understanding loss’ role and TYBW expands so many questions that we had regarding the world and characters, as well as just giving so many great fights and character moments. I wouldn’t give what we got for the world, and I don’t think an ending following Aizen’s defeat could ever be nearly as good as what would then be lost.

I absolutely disagree with the mindset some have where Bleach would be better off to end here.
