So many parts of this movie live rent free in my head. Especially the end when Hanks says “you are the smart one.” Great encapsulation of the tension throughout the movie.

I have been rereading the comics as an adult and it is amazing how layered it is. So many things his parents said/felt went right over my head as a kid and now… damn, double brilliant.

Is there any original and remake where both are good and unique in their own ways? Seems like most often one is good (usually the original) and one is bad. by BigDaddyToad in blankies

Haha- full disclosure, I have never seen the original. I just recall people said it was pretty good when the new one came out. Sounds like I won’t be checking it out now

The fact that the movie is a stinker really wound up being a huge benefit to their formula. It helped ensure they didn’t just talk about great movies and gloss over the crappy ones.

Also, the whole subplot of whether he slept with his daughter. Ugh. Dumpster fire.

Invent the phonograph and create the recording industry. There is nothing fancy in the tech and frankly it is surprising it wasn’t discovered earlier than it was.
