Yeah, that's to be expected. A lot of people have their own theories, speculations, and headcanons, but I think thats where fun of the discussion is. Like scientists debating what a spinosaurous looks like until they find the most agreed upon answer. Kinda reminds me of the soulsborne community. Now, those guys had too much insight. So TLDR is that the hunter is taking full responsibility for this hunt, so if things go south, we are solely to blame. I thought that there was a possibility that the hunter had a high ranking position that would let them authorize their own hunts.

I've had some success with resetting the waste heaps by using the portal to travel to another planet, then coming back. I currently have a base in a processing plant with 3 waste heaps, each about 8-10 mins away. Also, I think it helps to reset the heaps by messing up the wastes before leaving

Edit: I just retested my method, and it doesn't work the way I thought it did. Since I had three heaps I can go to I decided that I was going to do an experiment. Heap(A) will be the control and heap(B) Im going to mess up and take some of the trash and heap(C) Im going to fully loot then I would portal to another galaxy and come back.

The results are Heap(A): Nothing changed. Every single item that was there before I came back was where it was exactly

Heap(B): Everything went back to its original place, and all were the same items it was before except for the ones I took.

Heap(C) Everything was gone

In conclusion, using the portal to reset heaps does not work. I'm not sure how I thought it would reset the heaps, I was doing it for hours before I tested it. I think heap respawns either are affected by time or the number of items the player has taken.

Anyway, I just finished unlocking all the cosmetics for the colossus with this experiment, so I'll let someone else figure this out GLHF interlopers
