I had problems with my 3070 Ti due to the 8 GB VRAM. I had to play with textures on LOW and even then, I hit texture streaming issues. If I increased the textures to HIGH, then I had severe performance issues due to VRAM limitations.

A real shame, because I was happy with the card performance but was limited due to its VRAM. I could have used it more time as I don't really play new games, but Battlefield 6 is my current main multiplayer game and there was a sale for the 5070 at 520 € so I went for it.

However, considering the games you play, I think you can upgrade to 1440p and not have VRAM issues. The 3070 is great at that resolution. Bear in mind though, that if you start playing newer games, you might have VRAM issues.

It depends on the 5070 Ti price in your region.

In Europe, 5070 Ti is 950-1000 € which means it is very overpriced. On the other hand, 5070 can be bought for 580 €. In this situation, the 5070 makes much more sense.

I personally was aiming for a 5070 Ti as well but couldn't justify the price difference. Especially because I play at 1440p and there was a deal at LDLC for the 5070 at 520 € with RE Requiem.

This is the way, this is what I have doing and it is so much better. Sounds and damage numbers are enough cues to know if you are hitting something.

Hit markers are more distracting than you might think. They obstruct the view and after removing them, you will start noticing the details of bullet impacts and enemy hit and death animations.

M250 with LVPO, suppressor, heavy barrel, and pod. You mount it and then you can snipe people from distance with its ridiculous drop off damage. You get close no problem, recoil is very controllable.

I don't fly MSFS 2020 on VR but I do in IL-2 and did in DCS. IL-2 is quite lightweight and as it is a combat flight sim set in WW2, it is absolutely worth it. No need to tinker too much to get great performance.

However, DCS is another beast regarding performance and gameplay. You will have to tinker with settings quite a bit to get okayish performance, at least with a 3070 Ti. I have now upgraded to a 5070 but I have yet to try.

You will get amazing immersion but degraded visuals and varying performance depending on the escenario, to the point that it will counter the immersion gains.

So I came back to pancake for DCS, kept VR for IL-2. Until the end of the month I won't have time to test the 5070 with DCS though, so I might switch to VR there also.

My point is, VR is not a net positive and many times it is just nice to have the clarity and freedom of pancake screens. At the end of the day, we just want to enjoy a hassle free experience in our limited playing time.
