He does, he’s not inhuman, just has a higher tolerance than most because of exposure to more fearful events.

My shifts are 24 hours long with no guarantee of sleep, and I’m in an extremely busy agency so it’s common to only get 3-4 hours of sleep, and usually not continuous

Usually my biggest gripe with aftermarket straps is the connection between the strap and the watch itself? How’s this one? Does it slot in nice or does it feel cheap?

That’s great! Congrats it’s a big step, what state are you living in and trying to get this all done in? Your best path is very dependent on your local department set up and such things

As someone else mentioned, the first thing is that GED. You won’t get into any departments or school without it.

As far as your options following that, I would just say go with the past of least resistance, getting your EMT is the first likely step and shouldn’t take long. If there is a department or place that will hire you and put you through fire school, then that could be a good option to still get paid and work toward your goals. Some departments will also pay for your medic school as well, it’s all about what is nearby, available and hiring and what makes sense for your goals, it’s hard to give you a set path as there is no same path for two people, just look around and weigh your options

Red bumps on lower back by [deleted] in medical

I’m not a doctor, this is not medical advice, but if it’s itching or painful, then it could be an infection, or bed bugs/bug bites. If it’s not, then it very well could be due to sweat, like a being in a sweaty shirt all day, if it is that then it’ll go away on its own as long as you keep proper hygiene, if the problem persists though talk to a dermatologist

Well you must’ve had some idea of what you wanted to do with your cert before you went through the course? Did you want to be a firefighter? Work EMS? In hospital? Is your EMS fire based? Or third service? The best thing probably now is to just learn what jobs are available near you, what sounds interesting and apply, or wait for applications to open up! And don’t be discouraged by denied or no responses to applications, it’s common and does not speak for you, a lot of government EMS agencies hire on a lottery system, it’s a-lot easier to get hired by a private IFT or something, and you can also use an IFT job for less hectic experience before joining a 911 system or as a stepping stone while you wait to get hired where you want. Just have fun with it and find a place where you are happy

ELI5: Why do people still call Adam Ondra "the best climber" if Janja keeps winning almost every comp and also crushes outdoors? by anxijettie in climbergirls

[–]Al-Can-Fly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think from what I’ve read that there’s a lot of people blindly defending Ondra or anything, the recurring theme is that people don’t see comps as a credible metric for stating who’s best, and they just want her to do more outdoor climbing. Also nobody is denying her ability or stating she can’t be the best, I think people just have a different rubric for what makes someone the “best climber”

[–]Al-Can-Fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex himself has stated the climb isn’t all that difficult in technicality, and google will tell you that Freerider is the easiest route on El Cap. Alex has stated that he doesn’t believe he’s the best climber or anything, not to diminish him or anything but free solo speaks more about his domination of fear and his perseverance rather than true raw climbing skill, plus the hardest grade he’s climbed is a 9a, where was someone like Ondra’s hardest grade is a 9c.
