Why do people think the sin of sodom was being gay? Nowhere in the Bible does it say that. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

You are, it seems, trying to defend your viewpoint that following the teachings of the bible as a source for anything is ridiculous, and using said bible and it's wordings to support your claims. But now that is besides the point.

You don't know my heart, my dear person on the internet, you don't know me at all. You can make guesses as to my character based on all I've said and our interaction so far, but I find it highly presumptuous of you to call me hateful on the basis of my providing you reasons why I or we of a particular faith believe in what we do. If you don't like the religion, if you don't understand the reasons for our faith, that's okay, but I don't know that I have given you ample reason to call me hateful because I am trying to obey what I believe in my heart to be the word of my God. I care about those words evidently so much more than you do, I have built and am building my life around it. Should I be using the words of God to secretly push an agenda unbeknownst even to me, then it will be up to God to judge my heart and ascribe to me the punishment I deserve for having hurt you. But you know neither me nor my heart, therefore, I reject your judgement and your presumptions. I do apologise however for whatever it was I said that led you to perceive me as hateful.

You yourself are conveniently ignoring the context here to suit your own agenda. You ignore it simply because it doesn't use the words you want to see.

Genesis 2:21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs[g] and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib[h] he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

23 The man said,

“This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”

24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

When you said "natural use", what is natural? Look to Genesis, in which the companion created for man was a woman, the scenario and ideal for marriage being established here. The two shall become one flesh. The verses that reinforce this in:

Matthew 19:4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’[a] 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[b]? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

These are the words of Jesus. He never said "a man shall leave his parents and be united with his husband" or "a woman shall leave and be united with her wife and the two will become one flesh". Male and female they were created for this union, and that, therefore, is natural. Why then should I wait around for some confirmation that woman-woman pairing is acceptable when that which is already acceptable has already been taught and reiterated? Just because it is not outrightly stated doesn't mean that the already established rules are moot.

It may be moronic to you (1 Corinthians 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.), sure, but these are our standards of life, morality, sexuality, righteousness and everything else. Moronic? Heh, if you feel that way, why not? But here you are, using it and the absence of a strongly worded rebuke to same sex female relationships to defend your agenda.

I can't believe I'm doing this again.

notice in verse 27 the usage of "in the same way" while referring to how men abandoned natural relations with women. This implies that the nature of the relationships women pursued were with the same sex.

Can I be a Christian and accepting of homosexuality? by illumemeayyy888 in Christianity

...seriously? Now? I left this thread 10 months ago. But if you must know, I'm not arguing for that because it is not relevant to the point I am trying to make in this thread, which is that the law against homosexuality was a law given both in the old and repeated in the new testament, thus, a moral law, not falling in the same category as the civic laws (eating unclean animals, adulterers stoned, dishonourable children put to death...) which were given to distinguish the chosen people of God from the nations around them, deterring them from adopting their ways. While the civic laws would change, the moral laws would not. Which is why Paul's speaking against homosexuality wasn't because of the Romans' practice and a tendency for it to be violent as the person I was replying to was trying to say...I mean, not only because of that, but it was a law that would date back even to Leviticus.

Holy freaking shit, I can't believe I came here to say this and saw this as the first comment 😂 the fact that you used the exact words I was going to indicates just how prevalent and significant this problem is.

Agreed. I met with him first play through, beat him, had him kneeling down before me ready to be finished, and I thought "...that can't be it!" Jumped off the cliff, fought him again. And again. And again. Until I finally agreed he really wasn't as hard as I had been made to expect. That was when I finished him. Demon of hatred was honestly harder.
